Okay, the facts;
Trump has by far the best chance to secure the nomination before the convention. He needs roughly around 490 Delegates from what is left- just under 900 if I'm not mistaken. Luckily for him most of the biggest prizes remaining- California, New York, New Jersey- are looking very favorable to him. Out of those 318 delegates Trump can be expected to bag about 275 of them, even more if he has the kind of performance in California that he did in SC. Add another 100 or so from the remaining Northeast states. Aside from all that Trump simply has to take states from 'Cruz' central. Especially Indiana and Nebraska.
Short 1237 in a convention, it gets awfully dicey. There's a chance there will be enough unpledged delegates- like from the territorial islands and Pennsylvania- to put him over the mark on the first vote. But afterwards it looks awful, as Cruz has openly sought second-ballot delegates, and like it or not he'll have sizeable enough support to justify this move of his, ultimately.
