I typically just lay out some facts without even making an assertion based off of them.
It's pretty hilarious when they refuse to accept that blacks commit more crime, and it MUST be that all of the police in the US are racist, even in cities with a majority black police department.

The "that's racist" line has two parts.
1. Put X behavior in category "racist."
2. Determine that all things in category "racist" are bad, wrong, prohibited, punishable, etc.
The category "racist" is vague, so almost anything can be fit into it with enough bending and twisting, and people spend a lot of time arguing about whether behavior X fits in the category "racist" or not.
However, it is assumed a priori that part 2 is true. Very rarely do people ever argue about this. I think this is what we should argue about the most.
Notice that this 2-step process happens with lots of categories: racist, privilege, toxic masculinity, rape culture
The same was true of the categories heresy, blashphemy, etc.
The fact is, this two-step process is just a way to silence people. Simply make an argument that what they said/did is in the category, and it's already assumed the category is wrong.

They ALWAYS try to diverge into something else if they feel they can't win, it's a classic argument tactic to frame the discussion into one where they feel they already an advantage, ie: change "your argument is wrong" to "you are a bad person so whatever you believe by extension is bad"
