I'm pretty sick of the Patton and Trump comparisons. Patton was a man who got where he was by being an actual go-getter and didn't accept or ask for handouts or loans or anything of that nature. He didn't have connections to start him off on his path even though he graduated from a military school.
The only reason he got anywhere in the beginning is because during the shit in Mexico he called up Pershing and went "hey man I'm already packed and ready to go" and Pershing (whom that one image macro about muslims is a falsified myth) was like "okay let's go."
Patton was not unpopular in the ways everyone seems to think, but he wasn't always the right man for the job. If any comparison could truly be made for the Patto/Trump thing it would be as deception. Whilst Patton was somewhat unknowing in his role as part of a deceptive army that was to invade around Calais (half the reason the landings of operation overlord even succeeded was because of diverted strength where they thought Patton would land), I fully believe Trump to be the deceiver in order to secure a victory for a democratic candidate even after the debacle of Obama.
Patton had absolutely zero interest in politics and even if told he should get into them he would not have. He wasn't always the most elegant speaker, but he never really dumbed down his speeches and delivered what equates to buzzwords. He did the job he was given to the best of his ability and relied on no one else because he was always ahead of them. He did not use or support cronyism or manipulation. He was not a businessman, he was an actual leader. He did not compromise.
He also wasn't murdered by Russians fuck O'reilly that retard.
Fun Patton fact: his pistol went off of at a dinner party and in the car ride home he cried to his wife because he didn't think she cared about his safety. Interesting moment.
