I feel like electronic stores got hit the hardest from the internet wave, and not because people love ordering electronics online, its because people starting figuring out how hard those mom and pop stores were fucking them on the price, any electronic you can find in a store you can find cheaper online.
>>
Fry's is awesome. I wish we had one around here.

Buying electronics online makes sense. What I hate are fucking food chains. Low quality shit tier food everywhere and it's tough to find a local place that makes anything close to decent fold anymore. There isn't a single diner in my down that serves fresh half and half for coffee. I don't even put half and half in my coffee at home, but when they bring out plastic cups of ultra pasteurized room temperature half and half, or worse, some kind of powdered creamer, you know you're at a shit tier establishment.

So aside from the dying mom and pop restaurants, everything else should be replaced by robots.

Most of the older stores have their own unique theme such as outer space, the ocean, and UFOs. When they started expanding rapidly, they got lazy with the themes and most new stores just have something minor like a mural of what the area the store is located in looked like before it became strip malls and subdivisions.
>>

If brick and mortar stores want to compete with the internet, they can't do it on price. They have to do it by making it a superior experience.

The benefit to retail stores is ensuring the health of your community by supporting local employment and keeping your money in the community where it can in turn be used on the community to support other local businesses and local infrastructure. If everybody only bought things online then in a lot of communities, the only employment opportunities would be call centers (which are god awful places to work) and warehouses.

To all the brick and mortar stores, I'd suggest you A) train your employees, and B) Tell them to give a fuck about the customer.
Cuz when they don't, I don't go back!
I don't expect the people working at Walmart to give a shit, BUT Best Buy, Lowes, and other specialty sores have just turned to SHIT!!
>>
So my big issue isn't supporting local brick and mortar it is the price disparity. If brick and mortar prices were slightly higher then I would pay them. But I can't resist a discount of 20% or even greater.
>>
>>70439207

Oh, that's another thing. Don't hire minorities. Are there really no suitable white people around to hire?

>tfw I go to that very fry's every sunday
Fry's is legitimately better than the internet with matched prices, since there's people to help you, snacks and food, and huge anime selections.

I went every other week when I lived in LA I even went to the one in Vegas. I've been to about 4-5 or so different fry's. Maybe more can't even remember.
>>
The problem is, local stores never have what I want. On the internet, I can research whatever I'm buying, pick an item that suits my needs the best and have it delivered to my door in a couple of days.
Stores usually don't carry things with the best price/performance ratio as those are often unknown brands or don't look flashy enough and would require convincing every single customer that this is exactly what they need. It's easier to stock cheap low quality shit and overpriced brand name low quality shit, as that is what sells.

Create a better online store, bum
>>
>>70436800
How do you like that as a business? Also, what do you sell?
>>
Yea, I should walk into a Fry's and spend 60+tax on a 5 year old wireless nic that's worse than the 20 dollar one I could buy online. Not to mention gas, commute time, and having to talk to some employee. The only reason to go to an electronics store is if you feel like there's a high probability of it being doa and you'd like to be able to quickly take it back until you get one that works, but the selection is garbage anyway so you just have to risk it or spend more money online which is still cheaper than your store. Not to mention all of the chinese shit that other retailers think they can just charge 3 times as much as online because some people don't want to wait 3 weeks shipping. Sure, tack on a few bucks for convenience, but if it's a choice between waiting and being bent over and fucked in the ass, I have the patience.

If your business is failing, you are shit at business. You don't know how to be profitable and you should cut your losses while you can.
If you want to complain, get mad at government licenses and regulations, the faggots that sue everyone forcing you to cover your ass at every insignificant point, OSHA, workers unions for jobs that aren't dangerous, etc. Don't get mad at the competition, they're making things better for everyone but you, entitled cunt.

I haven't tried Wal-Mart's version of that but every other big box store that I've tried ordering online for pickup has screwed it up. Problem is they rely on the standard minimum wage employees to go to the shelf and pull the item and they often pull the wrong thing or can't find it.

One time at Lowe's I ordered a dozen facing bricks to complete a project. When I got to the store, there was no specific place marked for picking up orders. After half an hour in line at customer service, I was pointed to the pro desk where after a ten minute wait I was told the customer service desk was wrong and I had to go back there. Eventually they called a manager, who led to me to an employee in the garden section. The employee came back with a pallet of landscaping bricks that each weighed about ten times as much as the dozen facing bricks I had ordered. They had no idea where the right product was located. I had to go find them on the self myself.

While that was the worst experience, almost every other store I've ordered online for pickup didn't have the items ready when I got there even though it was past the stated amount of time they had to fulfill the order. Often no one had even seen the order come in. Brick and mortar stores simply aren't designed to be fulfillment centers.

As long as its painless and easy to have them match the amazon.com price I don't mind walking into the store, especially so I can try before I buy with things like a stereo system.
>>

hahahahaha
>>
>>70443068
over here some specialized stores like for cameras introduced a "service fee" you have to pay if you want consulting on a product or want help with a product you haven't bought there.
If you buy a product there after consulting you don't have to pay the fee and you have full warranty for the prodcut.
>>
>>70435378
I've never lived around a Fry's, but Microcenter is often just as cheap or cheaper than shopping online. Maybe Fry's just needs to step up their game.
>>
>>70435378
I really would like to buy more stuff at local stores, but they lack in some aspects. I can easily buy something online and send it back if I find it to be too cheap or simply not appealing to me. If I'd try that at any local store, they'd just tell me to fuck off.
The prices are never up to date at the stores. Movies are more expensive, as are games or any electronic. The main reason I'd consider buying offline would be the advice, but most employees don't know shit about what they are selling. They basically just read what the label says, but still charge more than the online price.

If something is terrible in every way, why should I support it?

Some stores now offer guideshops. You can go there, get an adviser and try stuff out. You just can't buy it there, but rather get it ordered online by the store (or you can do it yourself). By doing this, they eliminate the need for supply chains and can match the online prices, while still offering the support everyone wishes for.

Frys has good deals if you use their promo code emails.

I can imagine it not working in the US though where the nearest depot might be like a 5 hour drive away

I hate Frys. Their customer service is terrible. They're set up like a ching chong dollar store. Their warehouse atmosphere displeases me. I went to use their restroom and there was poop on the floor. Someone shit on the floor! I agreed with his message. Now I order whatever I want on Amazon and it gets delivered the next day. I don't have to see poop on the floor or stand in line. Fuck Frys.

Why don't you sell your stuff via internet in your local area?
I'm sure people would rather have their shit in one day than in one week.
>>
>>70442682
Depends. It's going to take the average person an hour or two to put together their parts. If they value their time at more than the $50 then it's worth it to pay it.
>>
>>70449815
Exactly
Improving people skills honestly isn't that hard
You can start by asking friends or family to help you out by them pretending to buy something
Literally just in your house or somewhere
Its pretty cringe but the only way you ever get better with people is by talking to people and making sure you come across confident

Just buy a book ASAP, on your next day off or order it tonight. Dedicate an hour or two every day/two days and make sure you do it.
You could even take it to work and look stuff up for customers saying "God sorry its slipped my mind let me check"
Just make sure the book covers as much entry level shit as possible, that's what your customers will need to know anyway.
Also it'll go down really well with your boss if you're able to show them you're studying to improve how well you can do your job outside your workplace with your own money and on your own time
