Can't we just make people take out real loans for education? It seems so silly to me that if a young person wanted to start their own company they'd have to put together a business plan, have a bit of capital etc.
However, if a kid wants to go piss it up at university we give them free reign to do any old degree. Why should someone doing a degree that is more likely to lead to a good income have to pay as much (or often more) than someone doing a worthless degree? The former is going to have a good income and pay income tax, the latter is just a massive cost to everyone.
