Theres 2 ways you can look at that movie.
1 (most common): He heroically puts aside his depression and attempts to lead all the survivors to safety, tragicaly accidentaly going deeper into the wolfpacks territory..
2 (asshole version): He deliberately led all the men to their doom as he deliberately went into the heart of the pack to seek his own death in the only way he could think to give it meaning.

Maybe cos the cast is just men
Idk
Great movie anyways 4.77/5 would recommend
The acting is great. Like when dude dies in the plane after the crash you could actually FEEL his spirit leave his body
Yeah I was pretty stoned when I watched it but still it was great
Movie was shit to be honest.
Fight Club has been horribly misunderstood by every woman I've known watch it. They respond to Fight Club the same way they do to documentaries about Ethiopia, basically "I get it, so lets have no borders and law and sheeeyt".
My sister said at the earlier part of the movie that the whole Ikea furnishing scene meant that the average person was forced to buy cheap Ikea furniture instead of premium furniture and the government and rich people are evil for not redistributing wealth to the point he could go boutique shopping for a nicer bed frame, then he would get a better job, be happier etc. Fucking broads.

>>70401402
that's all politics, though... A woman wouldn't even recognize that objection
>>70401381
I wasn't being specific, I mean they basically get the same jist from Fight Club as the views greasy dreadlocked anarchist types have, that state is always evil, we should blow everything up and act like savages again because THE MAN is keeping us down. Basically nigger mentality.
The Ikea scene is where he's disgusted by the consumerist existence he's invested in that's not fulfilled him and completely dehumanised his existence then Durden blows it all up. You know, it comes up with all the stupid generic names the furniture has and its price tags. My sis got from it that all the furniture is too cheap and that's why he fights THE MAN, cus he's poor.

Obviously I'm mocking hers anon, and other girls. Like Evola said the natural order of things is corrupted, women love egalitarianism because inequality means some people must be sad and that makes them sad. They have no concept of nature, nobility, hierarchy or strife.
I guess it all comes down to their feels when they're exposed to something other than a baby or stove. Really men are the problem for allowing them away from either.

I found Saving Private Ryan to be more of an ultraviolent shockfest than a story of honor. It's hard to find any sense of humanity throughout the whole film, besides the scene of Ryan telling the story about his brothers. Maybe that was the message of that film, that war has no honor, only blood and horror. Regardless, it's quite a visual spectacle and definitely something everyone should watch at least once.

Fight Club was focused on Nitzche Philosophy and male issues. Of course women aren't going to understand deep rooted male issues and the methods of dealing with them since we have inherently different psychology. They aren't ever going to understand masculinity just as men will never get femininity(I.E not even trannies get it)
They aren't going to get the fundamental idea of "the fight" because they aren't wired to fume through violence.
So while to men project mayhem is a plea to take the world back to a more primal order where men can find their masculinity and break the effiminization of modern society, women see a bunch of people trying to attack capitalism because they have no idea what is driving it's members to do shit.
>>70404783

>>70400663
I understand it, but I don't like. Mostly because I'm advocate for wolves, and I don't think it provides a fair representation of them. The consequences of things like this can lead to people hunting them out of fear even more, and the continuation of their endangerment as a species.
>>70404734
Not even close.
Rambo was a metaphor for Vietnam (like Aliens, or Predator).
Commando is a fun, over-the-top self parody of action movies in which a shopping mall is destroyed and there is a brief pegging scene (when the black guy tries to kill Matrix in the hotel and we see into the next room, the blonde is behind the guy).

When they made it everyone was like "muh hooligans" and I think people half accepted the need for Ludovico or similar in the UK. Iono, as much as fight club is a very entertaining film and book, i dont think palahniuk's intention was masculinity, its was more of a "how fucked up has this world become" he wrote it as a response to publishers not wanting to deal with invisible monsters, because it was too incomprehensible and disturbing (and is in a better story imho). i think he was more expressing his disdain at modern culture and its inability to look at things that they disagreed with, where some people may revel in what others find horrid.

I think there is too much in the book to say its not about masculinity.
the Narrator is a self loathing loser with a deadbeat father and the first thing he does is find himself among a group of men who have completely lost their manhood (in the form of Robert Paulson). The very idea of the fight club system is completely based on an understanding of masculinity. Men have a certain honor, a certain respect when it comes to a fight that women don't understand. We don't take jabs at the nads, we don't pull hair, ect. ect.
The "invisible monster", that detachement of nature is only focused on a male perspective in the book, not female.
>>70405527
Yes. It is an absolute masterpiece.

>>70405542
Actually in the film, the men intruded into the wolves' territory and then unknowingly charged straight for the den, so how is this making wolves look bad?
>>70405120
I'd say there is nothing overtly masculine about it, unless that is how you define brawl scenes. That is really only the first half though, the movie takes a different turn after he is admitted to the hospital and over all it's more about coming to terms with growing out of those years in your life and free will
a natural part of it is the edgy 'I want to destroy something beautiful' urge, and a sense of directionless rage
The way that Alex and co. fulfil their urges is barbaric and unacceptable, but the urges themselves are completely normal, and to be expected from young men. If you think Alex's gang were the villains of the story, you completely missed the point and are probably a low-test cuck.
>>70405782
But 'those years of your life' don't happen for young women, that's entirely my point. Women have their own struggles during youth, but violent and aggressive urges are rarely one of them.
>>70404970
This was the big mistake in the original marketing of the movie - it was advertised as Liam Neeson vs Wolves. A different interpretation is that the movie is about what to do in a universe that doesn't care whether you carry on living or not; the wolves represent death and aren't necessarily realistically depicted.
I think you make a good point though. I read that the author of Jaws regretted writing the book after so many morons had got it into their head that it's good to kill as many as possible.
>>70403153
This movie fucking slays nigga
Not a movie, but definitely related. We had to read With the Old Breed by EB Sledge for a class. If you're not familiar, it's an account of a Marine infantryman who fought in the Pacific (the bit about sledge from the miniseries Pacific is based on this). The book lays out, in a simple, easy to understand fashion the way he felt about his comrades and the way the stress of constant fighting had on him and his friends. These two themes are constant and inescapable.
We start talking about the book in class and at least half the females in the room brought up how they were confused by or didn't understand one of those two themes.
The guys were talking about how his account compared to a WWI account we had read earlier (Company K, good but a bit odd) and the importance of burial and bodies in American culture, etc. The girls were mostly asking about "Why didn't the corpsmen react to pain or getting shot at when they were treating soldiers?" or "Why did they all feel so bad when Ack Ack (their CO at Peleliu) died? They weren't even there when he got shot."

He designed the woman so that the nerd with no family or GF would fall in love with her.
This would prove she had developed a true AI if she could successfully manipulate him or alternatively fall in love with him herself.
He pretended to be a depressed alchoholic to give the beta a window of opertunity to plan an escape for robo-waifu which he knew she was determined to do.
Or maybe I'm wrong, I can't remember if Pajeet said she wouldn't have true AI if she was manipulating him?
That's the jist of it though, that and Pajeet was too proud in his own ingenuity he underestimated the intelligence of his beta employee.

At the end of the day, the point is that the ability to choose horrible violence is more valuable than safety from horrible violence.
At the end of the novel, Anthony Burgess is pretty explicit in saying that 'boys will be boys' - if you just give them a healthy outlet and an appropriate male role model, they'll always grow out of it and learn how to channel their destructive impulses.

Do me a fucking favour you Wallaby.
I've read the novel and have forgotten more about Kubrick than you will ever know.
The natural urges you see as being so key are fucking abominable knuckle dragging, which explains why you are the only Ausfag I've ever spoken to who hasn't managed to move to and pollute my hometown of London, you fucking sheep jiggling pleb. Enjoy your desert you fucking low brow criminal classes reject.
BTW I had a friend at school who wanted me to join his gang. Spent the night with them while they vandalised some poor bastards house then GTFO. Four years later he got killed playing Hogs of the Road. He got permanently sidelined, a bit like you stranded in your fucking desert country with only your rape fantasies and complete lack of culture to keep you warm at night.
Holy shit, aussies and culture.
Alex is the villain of the piece as well as the protagonist. Learn to count past one and enjoy your ugly fucking women.
Don't breed.

To love someone is to care enough about them that you want them to progress as a person, and as a result will absolutely call them out on their bullshit when you see it. Being able to honestly call bullshit on someone you care about takes courage and intimacy that SHOULD in fact exist in families, but rarely doesn't.

i think you misunderstand me, invisible monsters is his first book written, and is about a female model who shoots her own jaw off because she loathes her own beauty, her gay brother who became a tranny because their parents didn't accept him, and an unsuspecting degenerate who was fed estrogen pills with out his knowledge (by both siblings, so double dosed). while fight club did focus on the the dejection that a lot of people feel in our society, it didn't come even close to those expressed in his first novel

To be entirely fair Sledge portrays it as one of his lowest moments of the entire war. Point-blank fire from a 175mm piece may have been the most terrifying, but hearing about one man out of thousands dying a few miles away was his worst experience, worse than digging a fighting hole and hitting a maggot-ridden corpse or helplessly watching stretcher bearers getting gunned down.

Not really.
The movie spends the entire time humanizing the android to make you believe she is a sentient 'person'. Then at the end she basically just goes all zeroes and ones and achieves her goal which was always to escape. She abandons the human with whom she'd built a connection with no remorse because she's not a person, she's a machine with a goal.

I mean they have va point to a degree, a lot of women in the West don't get simple concepts like sacrifice honor struggle or sacrifice because a lot of people i general don't get those concepts men and women. Beyond that there are just some things that women don't understand about men and there are things simply don't get about women it's not really sexist so much as it's understanding that genders thing differently
>>70407777
Nice quads, but that is so utterly depressing. It is so strange that women are so emotive, but once some experience extends beyond their accepted view of potential experience, they have no capability of empathy for said experience.
Probably a good thing or else they wouldn't let men do anything I guess.

I say this because I could have use this advice back in my early 20s. I'd see a guy walking around with a girl on his arm and wonder whether someone gave him the magic tricks or it was just some kind of magnetism that I didn't have that he was just born with.
I'm not a bad looking guy, so once I came out of my shell I started to realize women were more into me than I thought they'd be. I think if more guys had these realizations earlier in life, there would be less walking around with Elliot Rodgers syndrome.

Dunno if chicks will ever understand the bond formed between dudes over a sport, that even when facing your deathbed, all you want to do is skate a pool with em.
>>70408265
I meant in the sense that being a man and being a woman are two very different things and when people have such a difference between them they tend to think differently. Not just because of their genitals and hormones mind you.
>>70403141
I totally agree. Im a chick and it's like this movie never fucking ended. And when they did get to Matt, which is pretty much like why I was watching the whole movie, he made a wanky speech about not going home anyway so it was all for nothing.

They won't if you stop being an autist about it and have the conversation when the time and mood is right.
Now, if you're a fucking retard, which I assume you are, and you try to start a deep, philosophical conversation with a random girl at a bar or out of the blue anywhere else, then yes, they'll think you're weird.
Because that is fucking weird. And guys will think you're an autist with aspergers just as much as the chicks.
tl;dr don't be a retard
