>The US has spent more than 13 years in Iraq under the guise of fighting terrorism. However, a recent survey shows that nearly one-third of Iraqis believe the US supports terrorism or Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).
>The Office of Inspector General found that nearly “40 percent of Iraqis believe that the United States is working to destabilize Iraq and control its natural resources,” with 30 percent believing the US supports terrorism or Islamic State.
>This belief may partly be perpetuated by reports of videos purporting to show US forces delivering some form of support to IS fighters.
>In 2015, Iraq’s Parliamentary Commission on Security and Defense claimed to have revealed documents and photographs showing aircrafts belonging to the international coalition delivering weapons and supplies to IS, the Iraqi News reported.
>“We have been receiving this information continuously from many sources, documented in photos and reports to prove that the planes did land at some airports in Mosul, Tal Afar, Al Kiara,” Committee Chairman MP Hakim Zamili said in a press conference.
>The report also says that most Iraqis are “keenly aware of ISIL’s true nature” and “nearly all Iraqis have unfavorable views of ISIL and oppose its goals and tactics, with no significant variation across religious sects and ethnic groups.”
>The fact that a sizable percentage of Iraqis believe the US is helping the wildly unpopular IS could partially explain why the report also found that “the US image among Iraqis has fallen from 38 percent favorable in December 2014 to 18 percent in August 2015.”

The muslim world is full of conspiracy theory.
It's like they can't think rationally, are unable to take responsibility for anything, and believe EVERYTHING is controlled by spooky outside forces such allah, the CIA, Hebrews, Saud family, Sunnis.

Yemen was a US ally with ISIS before the Houthis toppled the government. Iraq is a US ally with ISIS.
>>70400247
H-HOW DO THEY KNOW?
>>70400247
Thanks, Obama
>>70401371
Change Muslim world to /pol/ and it still makes sense
In a way, it's sort of true.
Why the fuck are we allied with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE? They're not exactly shining beacons of democracy

yeah I agree that graphic oversimplifies a bit, I didn't do them all myself. more than a bit of truth though. in yemen currently they seem to be more interested in bombing the houthis than al qaeda so aq grows though. egypt has gone back and forth a bit. Libya was clearly a hit intended to create the chaos that's there now though, and Syria was supposed to go down the same way.
Think this really is the same guy? Extremely similar face, eyes, jaw at the very least.
>>70400247
gee I wonder why the Iraqis would think that we created ISIS

>America gets shit for it
>America is reluctant to do as much the next time around
>People wonder why America isn't doing more
We do. #WeAreAllMuslims according to Michael Moore.
The fact it's not 100% shows how uninformed people are

Afghan has lithium, which could make oil substitutes.
heroin can grow anywhere, legally with permits.
well, it's true but not in an active sense
we armed the so called moderate rebels without properly vetting them or training them and the majority of them folded into ISIS, work with ISIS against the Syrian regime, or had their shit kicked in and their US arms were taken by ISIS
the Syrian disaster is a result of the USA encouraging shit like the Arab spring and by pulling out of Iraq too early without a big enough stay behind force to ensure stabilization
>IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL.
>Daesh.
>So-called Islamic State.
JUST FUCKING SETTLE ON A FUCKING NAME ALREADY.

I don't buy that the USSD is this naive.

So two-thirds of Iraqis are gullible or stupid? Sounds about right.
>>70400247
So... 2/3rds if Iraqis have bought into government propaganda?
Also... current year and still calling IS ISIL...
Things that make you go hmm?
>>70403014
Their original name after expanding to Syria, was Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which in Arabic is Dawlat ul Islam fi Eraaq wa Shaam which is shortened in Arabic to DAESH.
Since Americans don't really know what Levant is, and ISIS is mainly fighting in Syria, they use ISIS meaning Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and is now the convention when referring to the group (though the American government officially uses ISIL, and most English Arabic media, but most Western media uses ISIS, up until recently)
Now recently ISIS removed the Iraq and Levant from it's name, because they seek to create a global caliphate, so they just call themselves Islamic State, shortened IS, so many media started calling them that.
They also ask all it's citizens to call them Ad-Dawlah (The State) or Dawlatul Islam (Islamic State), and have threatened to cut the tongue of anyone that calls them Daesh, so a lot of people call them Daesh to mock them in that sense, and calling ISIS as IS would be seen as supporting them, because that is what they force their own people to refer to them as.
