3MOA should be easy to hit a car or other "hard target" at 1000m, or a bit beyond, as well as you know how far it is falling. Better to have a gun and not need it, than to need one and not have it. A criminal who has no issues with breaking into your home may very well have no issues with breaking into your bedroom in the thought that valuables could be in there, or to eliminate a witness, or just because they're mad you called the cops.
