What are /pol/ thoughts on escapism?
Playing videogames, watching anime and happily living with your waifu sounds fun but is just working and paying taxes everything one needs to do in order to be a good citizen?
It is a complex issue that puts liberty and duty facing each other. What should we do?
One could argue that just as much as this empirical world might not be true, they have validity to live in a fantasy world of their own.
Escapism can be effective at protecting society from potential threats by isolating some in their own apartments.
It's also fun being a hiki.
Discuss.

no escape

4chan IS escapism, just like everything else on the internet, as well as most jobs people have today
even today's work is just escapism
but honestly what do you expect when things like marriage and having children isn't a survival imperative. This is why abandoning arranged marriage pretty much killed the west

And what opinion should we have? Reality exists as it is, who gives a fuck about some escapism
no point in fighting a long lost fight, so escapism and isolation really seems like the only "redpill" thing to do.
Escapism is bad for westeners in the times we're living but not for asians since they're huge-ass numerous and escapism will purge betas from their demographics, leaving only the strong people.

Well that guy threw a party for Azusa with a specially made cake and everything, seems like a decent person. Whens the last time somebody threw you a party with your own specially made cake? Besides maybe he just likes playing guitar.

Same opinion I have on just about anything else. All's good in moderation. Just don't forget to step back into reality when it really matters.
>>70369944
I've given up on women and anime, anime figures, and Star Wars are the only thing keeping me going. I'm so fucking lonely that I'm at the pint where I've given up. >>70369944
If I lived in any other time, I'm sure I'd give a shit about duty
But there's no saving this world
Neither one person nor a handful can change the course that western society is on, so fuck it

that doesn't sound so bad

she is a cartoon though and can't kiss you

it seems like western civilization is going through the same slow rotting decline that every other civilization has experienced. why try to save the west when it's the one destroying itself? i'll probably just kill myself if it gets too bad.

>even got the guitar
That's dedication! I got deep into the anime-hole about two years ago, even participated in a few of those waifu shrine threads, but I realized that the /comfy/ wouldn't last forever and that I would eventually lose interest, so I stopped before I got to that point. It was depressing knowing in the back of my mind that I can't keep doing this forever. Am I going to turn 25,30,35 and still be watching anime? I could also physically feel how it was warping my sense of reality. I was getting obsessed with panties, dresses, hair and other gay shit like that. I wanted out, so I got out. Probably watched about 500 series in that two year span.
Now I work full time and watching gook cartoons feels like a waste of time. This place is my only escape.

Also I'm a lot less happy now.
>>70374070
Watching anime is not usually part of the horse and carriage of collecting panties.

Escapism BTFO, reality wins! .... oh wait it doesn't ...
escapism is no paradise either, but at least you are doing what you want to do instead of running from what you really like to do "escaping" into the "normal" work life
>>70369944
Escapism is the real world, my life outside is the fake one.
Our civilization is dying and nothing can be done to stop it.
Might as well just enjoy the bread and circuses while they last.
lucid dreaming is the best form of escapism
>>70374070
>>70374150
isn't that that worst feel? - fleeting NEETdom.
It's such a beautifully depressing yet happy time in life
>>70375502
Idk man, I remember some anon saying how he lucid dreams every night and can't stop it and now he can't escape even in sleep. Fried his brain with the dreams and will never get a proper nights sleep again.
>>70376034
why is life so depressing, anon?
>>70376365
I don't know.. but that's what you have me for!

People don't have an obligation to society other than earning what they need to survive. If someone wants to work 8 hours, then go home and spend the rest of his time watching VR porn, then he is perfectly within his right to do so. It is silly to force societal ideals such as "you need to get married" or "you need to have children" or "you need to participate in politics" on others.
It is absolutely necessary. I disapprove of video games/anime but I see the appeal. I'd go insane with rage if I was a 7 day a week /pol/ack. Alcohol, drugs and fiction novels/movies are very important for mental health
a hobby will help, i personally like going camping, hunting or even some gardening.
physically doing something is the key
i still watch anime and play vidya but not all day everyday
