18. I joined at 20 and felt like an old man. I managed to pick up rank quickly and caught up, but I see guys in their late 20s getting ordered around by 21 year olds and feel bad for them.

My sister joined the Air Force at 22 and she's surrounded by 18-19 year olds. She said she feels old. I think if you're older than 21 and plan to join, make sure you go in as an officer.
The question is not age or when. The real question is when your ready to die.
