I have followed the gaming business feverishly years ago and I never stumbled upon so many women in the development process. Even the artists and designers were mostly male and the typical stuff where you saw women pop up a lot was the PR. Accidentally that has been the most destructive department in the whole business.
I think their idol worshiping is the problem. It's not like the business was discriminating towards women. I've only played two games from Amy Hennig because she was more of a console developer but the stories from her games have widely been lauded and the woman has a literature degree. Her company transfer went rather silently while every drop from Jade gets great press. Of course she's a looker and that will get some clicks but where is the appreciation for good old Amy?
With all this political nonsense you now have people like Brenda Brathwaite as chair women of some organization, hosting events about bringing women into the industry and how they can survive there. She's still fine with letting those organizations and reporters giving her development credit for Wizardry. She was a translator, not a developer!
