Personally I am a Québec separatist as I think it is the best way to preserve my culture and I think that smaller, locally governed ethnostates where people can govern their own destiny are better than big civic nationalist conglomerations. I think separatism is a best way to fight globalism.

I moved to Quebec 5 years ago and it's pretty clear that the separatist movement is dead. The older generations in Quebec City and rural areas keep it going and only a minority of young people buy into it.
Although I agree with Quebec's desire to preserve their culture, you can't cultivate the desire to preserve culture among people... it either happens or it doesn't.
People are still going to want their iPhones, avocados, federal jobs, etc.
And the language laws in Quebec are working against us - accepting French-speaking immigrants isn't exactly picking the cream of the crop (i.e.: N. Africa, Haiti, etc.).

Québec City is probably the one place in francophone Québec where the older generations are way more federalist than separatist. The true core of separatism is with the Gen X in the suburbs of Montreal, and of course across all generations in the rural regions.
