After this conflict their powers waned it was decline from 1200 BC onward. They never reached the peak of the old Kingdom again, Arabs and Islam just reduced the regions into vassal states.
Of course Egyptian culture was revered by the Greeks and Romans so it has mostly survived into present time. The Arabs mostly desecrated and pillaged the holy sites and everything was buried under the sand.
To give you an example of how little the Arabs gave a shit about the Egyptian culture they ruled for almost 1000 years, it took a French prodigy in the 1820s to relearn how to read Hieroglyphs.
