Hitler's plan was actually to have lebensraum in Russia, attacking Poland was not the plan, Stalin wanted to win a war, have revenge on Poland and implement some communism.
Hitler asked Poles to give away some of their land to have Germans freely walk through with their armies, after Poland refused Hitler felt betrayed and attacked Poland in act of calm desperation.
