If you look at the timeline of 20th century, the societal changes were already underway, feminists always just came in and claim it was their efforts. They never really had to fight for anything. Games today are good example of this - amount of female heroes was increasing every year, lesbian characters were in major release (Fear Factor) as far 1997, gay marriage (Fallout 2) in 1998, etc. yet they now scream that they all did it.
Take Erin Pizzey, she estabilished first shelter for abused women, from zero, and when it gained traction, feminists swooped in and claimed her operation, I shit you not.
