A lot of things you can see example in ezekiel 8-10 where they do things in secret thinking god cannot see them and saying god has left this world he no longer cares etc.

Unfortunately they took them as a badge of honor instead, as if it was something good even when it's described that it was a curse for them and a punishment added to them.
The epistles also argue with the hebrews about this because it was to keep them from backsliding they needed strict laws only for them.. saying they kept to the traditions and made the covenant of the messiah of no effect (law of god of none effect).. and tried to divide people from circumcized and non circumsized.. But they were not circumcized within their hearts.. they didn't follow the messiah jesus christ.. as they ought to have..
