I notice lots of people are /pol/ claim to be national socialist (I'm a libertarian myself). Aside from racial purity, exactly what is national socialism, how is it different from regular socialism espoused from people like Bernie Sanders and how is it better than libertarianism?

Libertarianism sounded great when I was 14 and Ron Paul was running for pres, but as I get older I'm not really agreeing with it (things like open borders and just letting people die). I am looking for alternatives.

Nationalism can refer to many things. Could be racial homogeny, historical borders, cultural protectionism. Could refer to isolation from international intervention. Could refer to a realist international policy of gaining perceived or literal power in military or territory. So it could be many things.
Socialism is of course state-controlled industries and can vary in intensity.
Without establishment of a specific party platform, national socialism doesn't mean anything specifically. Most references are just to Nazis by edgelords that think they're cool stormfags.

Keeping the old tradition will restrict you from developing. Race and culture doesn't matter, this is evolution, there will be new culture and maybe new races, as a result from racemixing. That's just how the world is supposed to work, we're just gonna keep changing. Keeping the race purity is just selfish, childish and egotistical.

National Socialism is what basically is what China is now. Its State Capitalism. I know the Chinese say they are socialist, but they are not.
That said, despite their setbacks, China will dominate the world stage in 10 to 20 years (they are doing it now). The reason is they are politically unified. If they have differing opinions on policy its behind closed doors and eventually someone gets purged if they don't fall in line. This results in them being able to think long term. Space program. Renewables etc.
While the US devolves into its election and even after the election it gets nothing done because of the nature of democracy.
Chinese national socialism gets shit done on the other hand.
