How do you all feel about the Pledge of Allegiance? I'm a patriotic sort, and a conservative, but I've never liked the idea of compelling our youth to say a pledge in "allegiance" to our flag, mostly because I don't think children understand the importance of swearing an oath.

And I've been in business organization meetings where they begin with the Pledge, and I find it weird and uncomfortable. I'm not a cub scout, nor am I a communist sympathizer, and I don't feel any need to demonstrate my "loyalty" to a business group over breakfast. I think this ceremony is antiquated. What is /pol/'s thoughts on it?
>>
Yeah, it's antiquated.

With what's happening now, there's definitely nothing to be proud of in America any more.

Cuck.
>>
>>70293707
once daddy is in office you can salute the flag proudly
>>
I think it'd be cooler to hold their hands over their hearts while the national anthem plays.
>>
>>70293707
It's super plebby and cringey
But lots of people are cringey plebs, and they need reminding that there are such things as "American values" so I'm OK with it. Having said that, I'm not sure I've been somewhere that it was recited in the last 5 years. It's pretty much been phased out this century from what I can tell.

>How do you all feel about the Pledge of Allegiance?

Shit is gay as fug

Citizenship should be earned, like joining the military or doing a civil duty. Freedom ain't free motherfucker.
>>
>>70293707

I used to think it was stupid, then I realized the US has been demoralized and I was brainwashed liberalized in school and watching Jon Stewart bash bush.

Now I would say it's pretty fucking cool and if you don't do it and mean it maybe you don't deserve to be here.

Probably just some other fag pretending to be him. I read "Daddy" and thought the same thing and I've only seen like 2 Milo videos on youtube and read one link one of my IRL /pol/lack friends posted on kikebook

**Silkies Stein, if you're reading this, call your family more frequently. They miss you. Genocide is no fun without you.***

only I, and this fat black gay kid ever said it
it felt sort of nice, to be standing up there, proud of our country, while everybody else tried to be too cool for patriotism

We are supposed to be a nation after all, and as far as nationalistic traditions go, it's not so bad.

>I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God with justice and liberty for all.

Pledging allegiance to democracy is retarded/meaningless anyway because you aren't actually pledging allegiance to any ideals, but whatever the public decides. Even "liberty" and "justice" are highly subjective words. The "under God" part is fucked though, that should be removed and as it stands is incredibly hypocritical.
>>
>>70293707
I would say change the Pledge back to its original form, and move it from beginning every morning of elementary school to the final action of graduation in high school.
>>
>>70293707

Kill yourself faggot.

>but I've never liked the idea of compelling our youth to say a pledge in "allegiance" to our flag, mostly because I don't think children understand the importance of swearing an oath.
its never compelled. You dont have to if you dont want to. Every edgy teenager in highschool likes to stay seated when the class says the pledge because 2cool4school, and its your right to do so.

that said, there's not enough nationalism today. and reciting the pledge is a sign that you align yourself with your country.

which is why despite usually being fairly moderate, it makes my blood boil when i see people burn the flag or desecrate it. if you dont like the flag then you can get the fuck out of the country.

>>
>>70296756
You're free alright. That freedom costs 1 foreskin. I'm assuming you paid?
>>
>>70296509
there may be freedom of religion, but the country was still founded by religious people, and many important events were due to religion. Stuff like The Great Awakening, which stemmed from religion and sort of sowed the seeds for American individualism. in the colony, education was considered important because you had to be able to read the bible, and in the late 19th century, youd get people going against Alcohol as the devil's drink, that would make you do evil shit, leading to the prohibition

I mean lets not kid ourselves. you are free to practice any religion in the US, you can even make up your own, like Scientology or Mormons, but the 3 dominant world religions all worship the same God anyway so it doesnt particularly matter. and God is a vague term that can be applied to anyone's religion. kind of the benefit of having a God without a proper name other than what he is.
>>
I always just sat down in silence whenever we would do this in school. No one gave a fuck.
>>
>>70293707
Pledging allegiance to the United States is different, imo, then pledging it to the US Government.

I love America and what its Constitution stands for, I just hate that its so shit on by our government.

Everyone must be forced to do it or be imprisoned, executed, or deported in a box (for the illegals).

Those who have no love for country deserves nothing.

I just remember that in high school there was this one edgelord, every morning he would sit down with his feet propped up on the table and loudly say his own version of the pledge

>I pledge allegiance
>To the flag
>Of the United States of Wall Street
>And to the Dictatorship
>For which it stands
>One nation
>Under NO GOD (he would always yell this part)
>Indivisible
>With liberty and justice for some

You're allowed to abstain if you don't like it, nobody will force you the pledge. It's a patriot thing. Most Irishmen know all their daddy's crude as fuck drunken songs, most British inherit their parent's teeth, Americans stand up and talk to themselves while facing a flag.
