Same reason why /pol/ is Christian. It may not be good for you, but it's part of our ingrained culture which must be protected at all costs if our identity is to stay strong.

Humans have had thousands of years(at least Europeans) of alcohol exposure.

Of course there's dregs of society that will always be there, but for the most part, the social damage and sheer fact drinking too much feels like shit puts a caper on the whole thing.

Your not familiar with Canadian Aboriginals but ultimately the welfare state PLUS alcohol(a drug unaccustomed) has destroyed them and their culture.

The same could happen to white people.... Socialism AND drug freedom don't mix.

coffee, weed, alcohol, tobacco <- cool

opiates, coke, many forms of synthetic mind-altering pills <- no thanks

shrooms <- very rarely (5+ yrs in-between)
acid / DMT <- no need to go back there man

krokadil/crack/meth/bath salts <-the fuck man
>>

tl;dr you will put anything offered to you by a greasy stranger into your body, no questions asked
>>

Europeans? No. As wide spread and deep as alcohol? No. As easy to produce without the recent developments of modern agriculture? No. People weren't backpacking weed and opium in mass quantiles up North, they didn't have the technology, and they sure as hell couldn't grow it.

Anybody with a barrel and some fruit/wheat could make alcohol, and they've probably been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years... Maybe more.

There simply wasn't the production and means of distribution to make it popular enough for casual Western use like alcohol until recently in history.

Alcohol is a drug.

It can be a very destructive drug. I'm sober now but I used to be an alcoholic so I can say with first hand experience that it has the potential to be just as destructive as any other drug.

With that said I don't mind if other people drink. My beliefs run libertarianish when it comes to drugs. I don't believe that I or the state has the right to restrict access to drugs or ban or limit their use.
>>
>>70294147
You should keep taking it.

Because alcohol has a far, far lower risk of being abused and having the person become severely addicted to it

inb4 >but there are more alcoholists than heroin addicts!
heroin isn't sold in stores and relative to total use most people who use heroin are addicts, compared to a fraction of alcohol drinkers
>>
>>70294147
most of the people at the top of my engineering class took it. 10 years from now they'll be adding it to the water to promote production
>>
>>70294100
I know Northern European berserkers and the Norse use to eat/drink such concoctions in ceremonies, or before battles.... But I don't know how often or wide spread mushroom tripping was, or if it was even available all year round.

The argument isn't, SHOULD we legalize drugs or not. It was WHY /pol/ is against them. And why /pol/ is against them is because in the current system, abuse and irresponsibility is incentivized, much in the same way I mentioned Aborginals alcohol and socialism.

You can already see this phenomenon; free college, legalize weed, pay for my stuff. It just incentives people to centre their lives around a substance the people haven't had much exposures to.

Go ahead, legalize every drug imaginable, but when the wannabe socialist ghettos pop up, tell them to fuck off and get their own money.
>>
>>70292662
I defend the right to do both. Unlike most people here, I believe in personal choice and self accountability as opposed to have the long dick of the government running my life. If you want to OD on heroin, bad choice, but godspeed to you.

marijuana isn't just a drug, in the right doses its a healthy medicine or vitamin like vitamin d and an excellent pain killer for people having pain or feeling nausea from their morning lithium.

It's still physically addictive, something that is hugely underestimated. Alcohol has detrimental effects upon multiple organs, and no amount is considered good for any of the supposed health benefits due to the cancer risk increasing linearly. Use in moderation at your own discretion of course, but we're definitely going to see an epidemic of alcohol related diseases in the coming years.

In the UK, the biggest killer of men from about 16-55 (I believe) is alcohol.
>>
>>70294587
Ok, I understand where you're coming from and I agree with your position.
>>
>>70294791
Does being stabbed because you have been seen while drinking alcohol, which is 100% haram, count as alcohol releated death?
>>
>>70294608
Why are people who "medicate" with weed insufferable cunts when they can't get a fix? People who use it for pain in my experience are otherwise well adjusted adults, every other toking faggot who takes it because hurr it helps me relax and like opens my mind mane are the most self-absorbed, narcissistic people while not high.

NO DRUGS
>>
Alcohol is legal therefore less degenerate.
Also brings you together with other people if you're into that.

Hard drugs are extremely concentrated, destructive hedonism. They send people into psychosis chasing the high and ruin lives.

Weed is just dumb.
>>
>>70292662
I do smoke weed pretty often. And shrooms are rather nice. I wouldn't care if all recreational drugs other than those two suddenly ceased to exist.

My rule was always weed, extacy (dancesafe.org that shit first), magic mushrooms and acid (whenever available, drug free for 8 years and I'd still say this) and also Nitrous filled balloons.

All drugs have a place. Stick to that time and place and they are all good.

Mate, I get "fucked up" because I enjoy it after a busy day or week. Fuck off. I'm not drowning any sorrows here, I'm fucking celebrating being productive as I drink and shit post on 4chinz.

>are the most self-absorbed, narcissistic people while not high.
well, I think you discovered why they smoke.

Weed is a medicine, remember?
>>
>>70292662
Fermentation is almost as important to human technology as domestication. It was early and stuck with us basically until modern day. It's still used extensively for food preservation, but it was necessary for water sanitation until maybe 100 years ago.

Much of technology and society rides on the back of fermentation and our understanding of it. Alcoholic beverages were a very minor threat to our moral integrity until liquor became commonplace, but even then it pales in comparison to tobacco or even caffeine.

Just because you don't understand history doesn't mean WE'RE wrong.
>>
Because they're either straight edge faggots (i can somewhat respect that), or bootlicking faggots.

>If you're smoking a few joints its going to make the place smell like pot.

Anyone who isn't a complete moron doesn't smoke inside.

Cigarettes OR weed, smoking inside is just straight up stupid and you should hang your head in shame if you do.
