I was at the talk tonight. He did that not in support of Trump, but rather in support of free speech. Last week, we had a controversy on campus when someone chalked "Trump" in the diag and the SLWs flipped out.
There were a ton of people there. Packed the auditorium and filled up an overflow room.
I was expecting protesters to attempt to disrupt the event, but nothing happened. I was surprised for several reasons. First, his events at other schools have been fervently protested. Second, someone went around and tore down all the posters advertising the event. Third, we have a chalking incident a couple weeks ago.
It was an interesting talk. He spoke at length about black crime rates and how the decimation of the two-parent household is what's destroying the black community, rather than racism and white privilege. It was pretty /pol/ in tone.
There were a few dull moments, however. He spent quite a while talking about being threatened by a tranny on live TV. His point was that liberals often use force to silence conservatives, but the story kind of fell flat.

It was the blatant trash lies he believed from his girlfriend or whoever the journo was that accused Trump's people of "assaulting her" which was apparently "the worst thing since her father died!" when the video showed he hardly even touched her.

He has a long, long, loooooong way to go before he earns back his reputation in my eyes. He's basically going to have to campaign with Trump and prove to us that he's personally responsible for a 10% increase in votes, nationwide.
It'll never happen. Ben has effectively destroyed his credibility with the one demographic that celebrated him.
Ben Shapiro is a good guy. I know most of my fellow Trump supporters don't understand it, but Shapiro is fanatically devoted to constitutional conservatism. Most of us are not, we're generally a more eclectic group of ideologues (both on /pol/ and off of it). His opposition to Trump is the result really of the fact that Cruz is, if nothing else, the embodiment in a candidate of Shapiro's deeply held ideals. There's an irony of course in that those ideals are basically the conservative equivalent of muh feelings, but that's nonetheless his perspective.
If he ever comes to my university I'll see him. And I'll continue to support the things he says about every issue other than Trump. It's possible to appreciate someone without agreeing with every single position he holds.
But he's definitely on probation.

Unless he realizes that Ms. Fields lied to him about her whole story about being grabbed and thrown down, it will forever be an obvious glaring flaw. There's video evidence of it. If he doesn't have the mental ability to watch a video, then read a statement, then change his mind, why should we listen to him anymore? I can't help but think that evidence doesn't change his mind.
