After WW1 the Weimar Republic was doing okay, not great. They ended up doing very badly during the great depression because every other country (except Italy) was doing bad too and they were demanding Germany pay them for WW1 damages. The other country's attitude was "fuck Germany, they killed our people, they can all starve as long as we get our money". Germany also couldn't really do anything about it because they were a Democracy and Democracies aren't really great at solving problems, they're good at preventing them from occurring.
Jews meanwhile, being generally more wealthy than most Germans, were doing fine. They were pretty excited about the whole democracy thing because Jews have money and money rules democracies and democracies don't kill Jews--historically, getting killed is a problem for Jews.
