We're not going to have an earth shattering event during our lifetimes simply because we happened to be born in this era, stop being so self important.

Scientists observe orphan planet like Nibiru,The ancient Mayan calendar comes to an end on December 21 this year and some believe that this will coincide with a cataclysmic, world-ending event. And one of the most popular doomsday scenarios involves another planet, known as Nibiru or Planet X, crashing into the Earth.

Planet X has been talked about for fucking DECADES.
It led to the discovery of objects like sedna but all these faggots saying there's a neptune sized planet orbiting far away from the sun are fucking retarded.
Nice clickbait FAGGOT.

How many calendars those fucking mayans have? I could swear every year have a fucking day which is the end of the mayan calendar.

So maybe this can kinda explain why we have such advanced intelligent life?

Think about it like this :

1) Every 26-27 million years, according to this article, most life is wiped out thanks to a comet storm sent into the inner solar system by a rogue 9th planet disrupting the oort cloud and such.

2) This prevents a few species from ever completely dominating the planet and allows very stupid (but highly fit) creatures to return to the dirt after a short period of time.

3) Thanks to both the constant clearing away of competition and pure chance, intelligent life becomes the norm this cycle.

I'm not saying this isn't all crackpot coming from The Sun, but it actually kinda is plausible and is almost the ME3 storyline except the causes are natural and on a smaller scale.

There is no evidence of mass extinctions that frequent and there's certainly no evidence of mass extinctions from a hail of meteors.
The only remotely comparable event was the actual formation of Earth when the accretion disc itself rained fire on everything for billions of years.

This article is absolute horse shit and that should be evident by the fact that they literally got the story from a single person's guess.

Computer models show whatever you want them to show.
Depending on what objects you select you could probably make an argument that a second fucking sun sling-shot all of them into their orbits.
There are millions ore billions of rocks whizzing around our sun and some orbits are more eccentric than others. To pluck out a few of them and, based on absolutely nothing, assume they were all in their orbits for the exact same reason is just shitty pop science for headlines.

You realize calculations were used and even needed to find anything and confirm it is a planet beyond Saturn, right?

It took us until 1930 to discover Pluto, which is visibly larger from the Earth than even a Jupiter would be at the distances being described.

>Thinks he can observe a planet directly that far away.
It is so painfully obvious you never paid attention in school.

We can.
Pic related.
It's sedna. The object that's 1000 km across (a fraction of the size of pluto) and a much MUCH more eccentric orbit.
Something the size of neptune would be easy as fuck.

Planet X has been perpetually "discovered" and disproven since the 70s. It's just a headline that won't go away because it sounds so fucking cool to think we might have missed something so huge in our own back yard.
Spoilers: we didn't.
>>70253564
Sedna was discovered more recently than that.
