This is very debatable. In general, educated populations are good, especially in a democracy. Too many people do not have an appreciation for the influence mathematics and science plays in today's society. Also, there is something to be said when it comes to increased mechanization of factory jobs. More and more jobs can be replaced by robotics. I can see where you are coming from but for me, I believe curriculum like the A-levels, IB even AP to a much much much lesser extent are good.
