Oh I dunno. The French revolution also resulted in the development of Celsius and the metric system. And standardisation of quite a few other things. Like laws. The napoleonic code is pretty based. So was the Universal Right to Vote and the declaration of rights of man.
And there were some issues surrounding taxation in the Ancién Regime. Namely that it is, of course, always and forever, theft.

Although not *everything* should be legal. Murder, theft and so on of course should be regulated and punished. I'm not an AnCap. I believe there is a need for a state, but a small and cheap one. That focuses on three things: defence, infrastructure (beyond what the individual can achieve) and justice. Nothing else. No wealth redistribution and no muh healthcare.
Tax is in principle theft. But if it is mutually beneficial for me to pay the state to take care of those 3 principles, its a good deal, and we should do it. A corrupt state (say the EU) should not be allowed to force people to pay taxes, and therefore it should not be mandatory.
