>>
>>70211417
I'm guessing it's because the 1-day trained recruits couldn't hit anything from afar even if you give them a "proper" rifle... say, a nugget.

So, you give them a rifle that's better for the city fighting, when they actually have a non-zero chance to hit.

They can still fire it at long range to make themselves feel better.

Re posting this.

Alright since there's a lot of faggotry lemme explain to you how dis shit works.
The missile they are using is a an Ataka, probably ataka-v, but who knows.
The ataka is a small caliber, guided missile, that has an interesting way of keeping it's self on target, where there is actually only one axis of movement, and so to be able to change in any direction it spins in this insane way, the advantage is you can have a smaller missile, that can fly very fast, so you have better penetration against armoured vehicles, the speed also means the shooting vehicle doesn't need to stay exposed as much, and it gives you some limited a2a capabilities, because of it's size you can also carry a lot of them. Also the guidance system makes the missile cheaper to make.
The disadvantages are that the off boar capability is reduced and the maneuverability of the missile suffers, because obviously it's going faster.
The best way to think of it is as a really fast guided rocket.
Now what can we learn from the video.
Wikipedia and other sources say the maximum range of the missile is 6km, but that would mean that if that was true the missile would have burned it's fuel at that distance and would fly inertially, so as we can see in that video at a launch range of 5.7 km at impact the missiles motor is still on, meaning the missiles range is much larger, most likely.
Now the speed, if it takes the missile 15 seconds to fly 5.7km, it means it's average speed through out that flight is 1368km/h, which is a pretty nice speed, considering it's an anti-tank missile, and that speed is much faster than western at missiles, if you care to know.

2nd part explaining the hud as far as i can understand

Ok so the HUD elements, all military vehicles share the same symbology pretty much so it can help you deduce stuff

At the top is the boar tape of for the gun/camera, we can see from it that it can rotate +/-110 degrees, on the far left is the vertical movement of the gun, we can see that it can go +30 and -45 degrees up and down respectively.

To the top left is the speed the helicopter is flying at, the opposite right is the altitude the helicopter is, the little P or "R" in Cyrillic denounces that that's the radar altitude, meaning distance from the ground, now what's interesting is that it seems to have quite a powerful altitude radar, since it's reaching a 1.5km, older Russian helicopters have weak ones that could only reach 300m, well as far as i know anyway.

The bottom left is showing where the gun and camera are poinint in relation to where the helicopter is pointing, there's a little X that appears, i suppose it means that represents the last lased position, and i'm supposing the border of that circle represents the absolute maximum range of the weapon selected.
It say 10, which means the 10km.
Remember absolute maximum range means the range in perfect conditions, and not the effective range, those are not to be confused.

At the bottom is the distance range, this range is set by the laser after the pilot lases the target, after the laser is off it's calculated inertially, this helps keep the laser cool, since lasers have a limited operational time.

The small count down that happens after the missile is fired is the time to impact, or rather time until the missile reaches the target.

And the little start that appears below the range marker, means the laser is firing

The little ПP sign that appears after before the missile is fired, means Pusk razreshon, which means means firing solution calculated.

Well that's that, no spiffy images, i'm a lazy bum.

The Manjib-AlBob Area isn't even that sparely populated, but they have to cut some end. They surely won't abandon Mosul and need the Salamiyah pocket to keep the pressure away from Tabqah/Raqqa. They probably hope that FSA and kurds will take Albob and Manjib and afterwards they have a calm nothern front, compared to SAA taking al-bob and pushing along the euphrat

>U.S. coalition has started bombing al Nusra in Idlib

Stop arguing about anime and read this, because it's more important than it looks

I'm sure a lot of you remember back when they first made up the "Khorasan" terrorist group and started bombing it alongside ISIS. The airstrikes against Khorasan were precision takeouts in that there were no major resources or camps to target, it was basically high profile assassinations on a group that nobody had even heard of before.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khorasan_group

>On 28 May 2015, al-Nusra Front leader Abu Mohammad al-Golani explicitly denied the existence of the supposed Khorasan group.

>The al-Nusra Front had received specific orders since at least early 2015 from al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri to cease any activities related to attacking Western targets.

What's even more suspicious is that at the time, Khorasan was portrayed as a completely separate entity.

anyway, read for yourselves

>U.S. Hits al Qaeda in Syria For Second Time This Week

>American warplanes struck a car carrying several members of the Khorasan Group in Syria on Tuesday night as part of the Pentagon’s widening campaign against al Qaeda in the war-torn country, a senior Defense Department official confirmed Wednesday.

Once again, an assassination style airstrike.

>The strike in the the northwestern city of Idlib is the second attack this week against the Qaeda-linked militants allied with the al-Nusra rebel group. Until recently, the Pentagon almost exclusively targeted the Islamic State in Syria, and stopped short of attacking al-Nusra rebels who seek to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

>It comes just two days after U.S. aircraft killed Firas al-Suri, a spokesman for al-Nusra and longtime al Qaeda member.

Kek I read this just last week.
Somewhere some Al Qaeda cave monkey thought that there was even the REMOTEST possibility that Al-Nusra could style itsself as a moderate opposition group

I guess in the end they werent entirely wrong, since many people consider Idlib "FSA territory"

2nd part explaining the hud as far as i can understand.

To the top left is the speed the helicopter is flying at, the opposite right is the altitude the helicopter is, the little P or «R» in Cyrillic denounces that that's the radar altitude, meaning distance from the ground, now what's interesting is that it seems to have quite a powerful altitude radar, since it's reaching a 1.5km, older Russian helicopters have weak ones that could only reach 300m, well as far as i know anyway.

>So youre saying US isnt actually bombing Nusra but instead targeting specific Khorasan targets?

I'm saying the entire concept of Khorasan is an excuse for carrying out whatever obscure goals Pentagon has inside Syria. The strikes are too precise and individually targeted.

1-2 years ago the name Khorasan appeared out of nowhere in western media outlets, and at the time the U.S. suggested they may be as big of a threat as ISIS. However the drone strikes against Khorasan were obviously tailored to take out specific unwanted individuals instead of broadly weakening the forces of a terrorist group, like the strikes against ISIS were.

Another point to note is that Khorasan was not directly linked with Nusra. The media perspective on this has shifted to portray the U.S. as directly striking Al Nusra.

If you check out the video, the drone strike was basically on a crowded street inside Idlib.

The U.S. does not carry out airstrikes against Al Nusra. Basically half their rebel supplies go to Nusra at this point. There have been no U.S. strikes on FSA territory except to eliminate specific individuals within this "Khorasan" that has never displayed activity, never had bases or camps, and, well, basically exists only on MSM and the tip of a drone missile.

I'm just guy, that interested in military vehicles. I don't have anything add to this.

The only thing, that confused me, was speed of missile. It was faster, as I know.

And the missile is definitely ataka-v, since it's only helicopter variant. Any way, Russians are like to not assign new index to modernizated military equipment some times, even the only thing that left is the name.
For example, S300PS and S300V are two different AAA complexes, that were designed for different tasks in different time by different design bureaus.

because of massive Turkish butthurt and invasion threats, the U.S. ordered the kurds to stop expanding in that region. The FSA expansion is just Turk supported groups fulfilling Turkey's years old promise of establishing a "safe zone" in that area. We really should start talking about FSA groups in terms of their individual names and affiliations, but it's a huge bother to keep track of all of them

I'm hoping kurds will get in the clear and take Manbij though. U.S. coalition has been striking Jarablus and Manbij a lot recently, which are direct targets for kurds

Here is another good channel to dig:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT4layPPCzgR_99g5VYYvmQ/search?query=syria

They upload random videos with good quality footages, the comment section on these videos are often invaded by jihadis, you can probably find many useful profiles.

They can't just cross the Eupharites and take Jarrublus, they're more likely to take Manbij then launch a new offensive from there towards the Northern border.

I'm not sure if Erdogan would chimp out though, since Jarrublus is his "red line".

Still I think, If we want to really do this and thus locate terrorists training camps and bom the kanker uit them, thank we should alteast plan for a bit.

True, But they could launch an aussailt from Turkey, or would erdogan go full besserk and destroy the Kurds there?

I heard about a statement from the Kurds that they were planning on attacking Manbij.

It would make it more difficult for ISIS to transport their supplies since it is a crossing. Still they would have to completely cut off ISIS from Northen Part of Syria.

If this is achieved, then ISIS will be cut dry.
And the war might last a bit less long.

So, to recapitulate the situation in the Alepo-Idlib theater in the last 6 months...
*SAA pushed in Latakia, moderat terrorists defended poorly
*FSA pushed in Hama, minor success
*SAA pushed successfuly in nothern Alepo, and in southern countryside where rebels launced a number of relative successful counter strikes
*Most battles were fought in the densly populated earia, with small number of soldiers, with the attacking side trying to capture one settlement after another in long battles because of the poor quality of soldiers

>But they could launch an aussailt from Turkey.
That will never happen. Erdogan got butthurt when they tried to advance from within Syria, advancing from the Turkish border to the city is not a choice.

>It would make it more difficult for ISIS to transport their supplies since it is a crossing.
This actually intrigues me, ISIS keeps on getting resupplied with arms and ammunition and no one in the USA seems to care about the route that they take to get them. Securing the border wouldn't really stop the arms flow to ISIS, they would just make new deals with the FSA.

Yeah, we should make a plan, I doubt that having both /SG/ and /IW ( Intelligence warfare)

Can be on one tread. Previous time was cool and actually really amazing to see, but if this continues it will disrupt the comfyness of /SG/ which is already endargered by T*rks and Anzu shitposting

I believe we could make a pastebin or the same setup as we have now on /SG/

In my opinion, SAA should use supperiority in armor and air force and launced an unexpected offensife in the south, where they could use manuver force and airforce could destory terrorist columns... I would form, 2 large battle group... in the first faze of the offenzive they should explore the surprise and penetrate the fsa lines in the south, reaching the Saruj-Masih road

I would try to cut of the Warth North of it First, ( After capturing the ISIS stronghold south fo your map)

Than after you had captured the warth, I would try to go blitzkrieg and capture the highways and with Drones take out the leftovers.

Then, when the enemy is cut fof and a siceable landstrip is captured and you have a decent strip for defence, ask them to move west, or surrender, or stay and get killed.

There is a flaw in your tactic.

SAA and his Allies dont have the manpower to commit such a large aussault. they would have to take soldiers from other fronts, which would make them vunreable. This attack would take weeks if not months. The enemy would take advantage of this and start attacking on other fronts.

That's why I like my idea, A bit more tactical, instead of the HURR DURR MASSIVE RUSH RUSSIA STRONk'' and my tactic is a bit more realistic, Cuttong of the roads and securing the road to Alleppo.

>Gabi Henry Dạwٔud was a Syrian Christian patriot who fought the American-sponsored Islamist terrorists. America supports the Islamists with money, arms, and political cover. John McCain does it… Chilly Hilly does it… Darrell Issa does it… Butcher Biden does it… Ted Cruz does it… John Kerry does it. Such chicanery is why most of the world hate the Anglo Americans and their noxious narcissistic non-culture… understandably. The Anglo American Establishment MURDERED Gabi Henry Dạwٔud thorough their support of Islamist terrorism (a terrorism unsupported by most Muslims, I might add). Don’t vote for such EVIL. NEVER EVER. However, as bad as the Establishment Dems are, the “Pro-Life” Republicans are far worse. At least, the Dems don’t put a smarmy pseudo-religious veneer on their greed and nihilism.

>They all had faces… they all had names. Say a prayer for Gabi Henry Dạwٔud… say a prayer for his family, friends, and comrades-in-arms. We’re Christians, that’s what we do. If you support the Republican terrorism mavens… you deny your Christianity, full stop. Do ponder that.

I don't think it is a good idea to portray this problem as a partisan issue, especially when the writing you quoted admits both parties do it.

It's the establishment as a whole. Just like the """"moderate beheaders"""" in Syria, the """"moderate establishment"""" in the U.S. is fake partisanship in the name of maintaining the illusion of change/choice
