>Jisr al Shughur
this city is located in the Idlib governorate right above Latakia governorate. It's at astrayegic crossroads. taking this city will allow the SAA to push into the Rebel heartland of Idlib
>Aleppo city
The SAA has been looking to besiege the rebels in Aleppo city after they ended the siege on Nubbl. Aleppo is the industrial heartland of northern Syria, and destroying the rebels here would be a decisive victory
>Tabaqa Airbase
Right next to the ISIS capital of Raqqa, taking this air base would cut ISIS off from northern Aleppo governorate and would give the SAA a big edge over ISIS
>>70193298
>>70193298
Ahh yes, the "America supports the rebels" meme. Which is why the U.S. is sending billions of dollars and equipment to the Lebanese and Iraqi armies, both of which are tools of Iran or Hezbollah, while letting the Saudis send in a trickle of anti-tank missiles and barring any rebels it trains from fighting Assad likely on pain of being droned. Also why Obama has taken the multiple opportunities he had to bomb Assad's air force and also why he has pushed as hard as he could to establish iran as a regional counterwieght to Saudi Arabia, so long as it stays outside of the Arabian peninsula.
Yes, the United States backs the rebels and wants to see the Revolution succeed :^)

The U.S does not "support" the rebels, in that they want to see them succeed and are constantly frustarted by the Wily "Based Assad" and his main man "Based Putin." ANy support the United States has lent to the rebels is conditional on them not achieving their main objectives and at this stage is largely to appease regional allies and some Republicans.
If the United States actually backed rebels, hey wouldn't have cretaed a train and equip program that was designed to fail. One of the stipulations was that rebels joining could not fight Asssad, and could only fight ISIS. As Assad is the one with a state's military and the only one capable of raining mass destruction on rebel-held areas, this would be akin to the United States approaching britain in 1941 and saying "we'll supply you, but if you fire a single bullet against the Germans or Italians, it's over. We also want you to fight Japan exclusively and negotiate a ceasefire with the Germans and Italians."
At every level, if the U.S. wanted to back the rebels, they would have done so in a far more muscular fashion. So far this hasn't happened, and they have been the "friend" in he background undermining the ability of the rebels to fight at basically every turn, in the hopes that they surrender to Assad and Putin and serve as cannon fodder against ISIS.
Drop the memes and look at the conflict dispassionately and you will see there's plenty of evidence to support this angle.

>>70194557
The United States has also stated multiple times that it does not seek regime change in Syria. This runs contrary to many rebels' stated goals.
Instead, the United States wants a "managed transiiton," in which some window dressing is changed, but the vast majority of the regime (an its otrture machine "security" apparatus) remains intact and functional. Why? because the Syrian regime is pliable and politically supple and agreeable to the demented "realpoliticians" who ghave been steering U.S. foreign policy on and off since the Cold War. They would rather have a predictable autocracy rather than an unpredictable democracy, and prefer Shia jihadism to the Sunni vareity, under the assumption that Shia jihadism ultimately traces back to Iran and can be controlled via state politics.

Which results in them "defecting" to ISIS, just as Uncle Sam intended. The USA provides covert, deniable support to terrorists, and lets Saudi Arabia and Turkey handle the overt support.

The US does support the rebels, not because they want the rebels to take over Syria, but because they want to keep Syria destabilized. They weren't trying though. I'm not sure how anyone who looks at the war can say they did. If they were you would have seen advanced weapons systems enter the war in 2012 when the conflict became clearly militarized. You would have seen AA systems delivered en masse in order to allow the rebels to crate no-fly zones in areas they controlled. This never happened. In 2013, the U.S. had a clear shot against the regime after the gassing in eastern Gouta by the regime. Yet they held back, largely from what has leaked out at the decision of Obama.
The United States has a history of arming right-wing militias globally to combat any leftist movements. this dates back to the Cold War, and in the Middle East these decisions are still being felt today. However, the sort of invovlement you saw in Afghanistan from the U.S., or even to a lesser extent in Iraq with the Sunni Awakening, hasn't happened in Syria, at least not via the United States. Regional allies though, have been backing their own Islamist outfits, much to the United States' apparent chagrin. Not due to their ideology, which has now become an inconvenience to the US. in the absence of a communist threat, but rather because it increases the messiness of the war and makes it harder for the U.S. to try to draw to a clsoe in roder to fight ISIS (because the rebels will just lay down their arms and allow themselves to be disappeared in a few years so they can fight a group which hasn't wrought nearly the level of destruction against them as the Assad regime has, but Obama seems to think this strategy is plausible).
>>70195361
I know Luxemborg, but that was the only happening
>>70195384
They lost any hope of regime change years ago, and now just want destabilization. They don't want any of these jihadis to actually "win", just to destroy Syria. Giving them the best stuff would be insane.

>>70195041
Rebels have been fighting ISIS across Syria before it was cool.
>>70195140
That's Hillary's take, but she's out of power right now. Obama has been far more concilairory towards Iran. i don't deny that there is a faction within the government that support's Hilalry's position though. At the same time, I think it's misisng the point tocompletely ignore what people on the ground are doing and reduce everything to geopoliics. If 4chan had beena round during the American Revolution, we'd see endless threads like this calling it nothing more than a French-backed proxy war against the English, which would deprive us of having anything close to a holistic understanding of the conflict.
Think about it: a handful of TOW missiles, even a few hundred, trcikong in one at a time, over the course of five years. that's not enough to make a military differnece and isn't enoguh to defeat Assad. Enough to slowly grind him down and bring him to negotiate while preserving the regime? Maybe.
Pretty late here so I could only skim the article, but I think the premise speaks for itself. If the United States wanted the Assad regime gone, they wouldn't be waffling so much. He would have been gone a long time ago. Assad himself is epxendable and even his backers know this. They're not atatched to him, but keep him around because right now he is useful as a rallying point for the increasingly disparate regime militias.
It's nice to find someone who is skeptical but who I can engage with though, Minnesota-tan.

Maybe, hard to say.
A rocket launch like Antares could easily have more than 4 kilotons of LOX+Kerosene. It basically goes off like a fuel air bomb, but a lot more violently because cryo-cooled LOX is a lot denser an oxidizer than air.
I'd certainly agree that 4 kilotons of ANFO is the largest intentional explosion.

I think that the US government's sole goal is to keep Syria destabilized for as long as possible. this is precisely why we are funding both Sides of the conflict. We have supplied both the YPG and the FSA who have been fighting each other with the very weapons we gave to them.
I think it's deeper than that. Saudi and Gulf State donors have clearly expressed their interest in toppling Assad.
the Syrian civil war is a lot deeper than "the CIA did it!", which is what a lot of people are touting.

>>Yemeni missile strike kills 70+ Saudi-led fighters in Al-Jawf
The Houthis and Yemen army are allied pretty much right? If so who does Saudi support on the ground aside from it´s mercenaries, just Al-Qaeda?
>>70197488
BINGO
So, what's with Holland referendum?
250 people gone missing, probably kidnapped by ISIS.
>>70197692
basically none of them understood what is was about and they voted no because the most charismatic guy told them to
>>70197865
democracy at its finest
>>70197488
Saudi back the other government and Southern movement. AQ is present on its own and is alive and kickin well, Saudi puppet government gets literally sandwiched.
Their recent gains look like a fucking EUIII game though
>>70197692
32% of the population participated.
61% of the people who voted voted against it.
But there is discussion if 32% of participation is enough.
Why do people go over to fight ISIS voluntarily in groups like the YPG? How retarded could you possibly be, they aren't legitimate and wont give a single fuck about what happens to you. Not to mention the fact they are considered a terrorist organization. Some absolute weapon from the UK is currently fighting a case after going out with the YPG to fight ISIS and then upon his return to the UK was arrested and is being charged as a terrorist, hopefully he gets a nice sentence for being a fucking retard
>>70197865
If they knew what it was about, even more of them would have voted against it
>>70197692
Netherlands voted to block the EU-Ukraine association agreement, which was the thing that started the Ukraine civil war in the first place.
>>70195636
>Hotel as portrait
good taste
>>70197956
is there an estimation how much of that was people listening to the left and abstaining by choice and how many people just didnt care?
>>70197956
Legally, the requirement was 30% turnout.
>>70197956
Can you tell me what the referendum was about?
>>70197865
I don't want my shekels to go to Ukraine, it's a corrupt country.
>>70198094
if they wanted Ukraine in nato
>>70197956
but if wasn't obligatory to vote, fuck it. The people spoke anyways
>>70197956
30% was the treshold
>>70198029
for the average dutchman that referendum just came down to who they think downed mh17, even though they'll deny it
>>70198094
>>70198175
In the EU* sorry
>>70192910
say it with me /pol/, are you ready?
POO
>>70198175
>if they wanted Ukraine in nato
It wasn't about NATO. It was a free trade agreement with the EU, like NAFTA with Ukraine.
Which might seem a small thing, but it was the reason that they held the coup against Yanukovych.
>>70198195
>>70198216
dude, that's not funny anymore
>>70198286
im sorry this was a post for white people
please return to whatever niggery you were previously engaged in
>>70198241
Fuck NATO and EU for expanding to the east
US Empire at it's finest, disgusts me
>>70198241
Yes, it's just a trade agreement.
Article 10
Conflict prevention, crisis management and military-technological cooperation
1. The Parties shall enhance practical cooperation in conflict prevention and crisis management, in particular with a
view to increasing the participation of Ukraine in EU-led civilian and military crisis management operations as well as
relevant exercises and training activities, including those carried out in the framework of the Common Security and
Defence Policy (CSDP).
2. Cooperation in this field shall be based on modalities and arrangements between the EU and Ukraine on consul
tation and cooperation on crisis management.
3. The Parties shall explore the potential of military-technological cooperation. Ukraine and the European Defence
Agency (EDA) shall establish close contacts to discuss military capability improvement, including technological issues
>>70198053
I don't know, only one percent of the votes were invalid that much i know
>>70198074
That is true but still it was not supposed to be a binding referendum but more of an opinion poll

>>70198502
>That is true but still it was not supposed to be a binding referendum but more of an opinion poll
Not binding but PM Rutte has already stated that they cannot ignore the result and ratification in its current form won't take place
>>70196912
If you mean the Muslim Brotherhood guys, yes, since there are no "freedom fighters" only Sunni autocrats who want to settle sectarian conflicts by murder.
>>70198556
t. Yang-dipertuan Dato' Tan Sri Najib
>>70198665
>in its current form won't take place
thats what i meant, if slight changes are made they can still say yes to it.
It happened here before regarding separation of governement and church.
>>70198634
I don´t think these are recorded from where they´re being fired
>>70198502
>it was not supposed to be a binding referendum but more of an opinion poll
Then I guess the Dutch PM shouldn't have said he was gonna follow the outcome if the turnout was larger than 30%
>>70198776
Dude the dutch had referendums on EU topics before with the same rethoric coming from the politicians. they blatantly ignored the outcome after getting their shit handed to them by the PVV
>>70198776
The dutch have nothing to gain from the ratification, no was obvious choice

>>70199013
the missile has an IR strobe in its tail. the helicopter tracks this trobe in relation to the target, and sends necessary offset adjustments via radio link. it's an archaic system. apache by comparison uses laser guidance which is significantly more accurate
>>70183370
I fear the Tochka missiles killcounts are a lot overestimated. Propaganda and unreliable recon.

NEWS FROM LIBYA
> the unelected Islamist parliament of Tripoli, recognized only by turkey and northern Cyprus, resigned after recognizing the new UN-backed government
> all of the city councils of Tripoli and the tribe leaders of Libya (including the Misrata tribe, from which the former Islamist president hailed) also formally recognized the new government.
> The democratically elected parliament of Tobruk once more missed the legal number of representatives to vote whether or not to recognize the new government
