I think the wall will be built no matter what, the only thing that changes is when. Back in 2007, on a comprehensive immigration bill, Mexican-Americans basically went apeshit when the bill included funding for a wall. I remember fellow students wanting to ditch school to protest. It literally was insanity -- even as a fellow Mexican-American.

Anyway, yeah. The main sticking point that I remember back then, was that building a wall would force migrants to go through treacherous and deadly terrain, thereby causing more needless deaths and suffering. A lot of the Mexican news pundits kept hammering that point, saying that those deaths would be on our hands etc. Also, they use the economic argument, saying that the wall is a waste of money, when the U.S. really needs to expand a guest worker program, and pay attention to visa overstays etc. A lot of red herring shit.
