Also, the first time, go shorter than you think you want, and stick with if for a few weeks. Medium length buzzes can make you look ratty and childish. Shorter is usually better.
The 30 day rule will give you time to get used to the look before you judge it for good.
I've kept my head shaved for most of my life and have had people chimp out over it on a few occasions.
