First of all because historically they have not been interested in any of these things, we know for a vast amount of especially STEM related subjects that they simply aren't interested and don't find them stimulating. They were never a part of the effort to get these fields started and so that's why these fields are seen as traditionally and typically male orientated.
For example I'm 32 and an IT Director, I grew up at school around nerds who were bullied almost 24x7 for working with computers and using the internet, so not only was that an almost 100% male field but it had to SUFFER the likes of both normies but esecpially female disapproval and often physical abuse and harassment to get started.
These days everyone uses the internet and especially women but there is a disdain for women in tech because at the very least it's an attempt to hijack what was built by men in adversity to rejection by women.
Women are just objectively worse at STEM fields, basic science and empirical evidence tells us that.
Sexism isn't alive and well, it's called the free market, see the free market where people exchange value for value, there is no female privilege, if you're better at the job you get the deal and get paid, women think they're held back by sexism but in reality all the best businesses show little bias in their hiring, because to have a bias in your hiring which isn't directly related to ability to do the job is something you pay for, you sacrifice profit to hold that bias and it means the competition who doesn't hold that bias beats you.
