it's just that what we call police and courts will be private rights protection companies
these companies will be in charge of protecting the lives and property of customers
does that entail guards? alarms? cameras? moats and cannons? it depends on the company, the customer, and what companies figure out as they look for the right mix of pleasing the customer and keeping costs down.
do you know what will NOT happen? companies hunting down drug dealers and users just for the fuck of it because what monetary sense does that make? they can clear dealers and junkies off of private property but they won't really give a fuck about the drugs.
they also won't stop anybody from getting an abortion. are you pro-life? buy rights coverage for your own kids. otherwise it's none of your fucking business.
does this benefit the rich and hurt the poor? who gets fucked over more by the police than poor people? maybe the poor won't be able to afford much rights coverage, but it probably won't be worse than the current system. "911 Is a Joke" as Public Enemy said.
one thing that's for sure is that the system will be far less violent. the companies will probably find that replacing a stolen TV is less expensive than training goons to hunt down burglars. the system will rely more on prevention than punishment.
and what if a company's own client is found to be a thief or murderer against another client? it's the same logic as when a bar throws out a violent drunk. you drop the criminal as a customer in favor of the victim, exposing the criminal to rights abuses without any protection. what if one company's client murders another company's client?
we're dealing with millions of people here. this will come up, so the companies will figure out procedures for investigating, ruling, and punishing or compensating. violence is expensive, so they'll figure out peaceful ways of solving conflicts.
