The Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc. are all socialist countries. The Communist Party calls itself thus because it's trying to BUILD communism, but they actually practice socialism. In China's case, capitlaism because when the communists took control of the country, china was still a feudal society.
Communism has never existed except briefly in Ukraine and Catalonia. They both had good parts and bad parts because the communists in question were anarchists.

Well as an unrepentant capitalist I would say, according to statistics, socialism. The only problem is, the socialist state lives in a short term, pipe dream experiment. Their economic vitality is poor, their citizens are to highly taxes, their business infrastructure tends towards failure and lack of innovation, and they push to remedy these failures with manpower through immigration/slave labor or war to stimulate industries. Of course everyone is going to be happy when they have a massive social safety net and paid vacations, but they become not so happy when they see that capitalist countries are leaving them inevitable in the dust and their countries are taken over by migrants and a money hungry, faceless bureaucracy that directs their lives and national agenda. In that sense, the capitalist society lasts longer and is more stable in the long run, hence why they will be elected, and if the state generates enough capital in a hundred years, a left wing government will be elected and the cycle repeats.

That said, the post war generation had the best, most happiest lives in socialist Yugoslavia.
We didn't have all the luxury commodities we have today, but many more had jobs and some basic income, we had a lot of manufacture and many exports.
