I get a popup message even though my popup block was engaged. Message says that I need to call 8.8.8.-5.6.2.-0.4.2.7. immediately to have the virus removed.
Knew that it was a scam but decided to have some fun. 5 separate calls to 5 different and decidedly foreign "Technicians" to ask about virus, the name of the company and to speak with a supervisor. Company name changed 5 different times and supervisor was a no-go.
5th call I do star67 and adopt my best Russian accent. Kept the dude on the phone for 15 minutes until he lost his patience and said that his company was AUTHORIZED by Microsoft to remove the virus. I told him that I would call Microsoft to find out why his company was the only means to do this (ALL in a heavy Russian accent). He said that Microsoft wouldn't be able to answer my question. Then, I said I would call the FBI because THEY would. Dial tone.
