Depends on what situation you want. Something concealable: A fixed blade karambit, or small other fixed blade (neck knife style). If concealability doesnt matter: Cold steel trailmaster perhaps. I also love my Buck Hoodlum (very light weight). In terms of folding, maybe a Cold steel Recon 1 or a Ti-Lite.
Personally I use a 6" Cold Steel Ti-Lite as my defensive blade when I know there's a high propensity for things to go wrong.

Get a conventional knife or dagger (not a tanto, not the monstrosity in the post to which I am replying) and make sure it's razor sharp. I have a Gerber and would recommend the shit out of it. It was $40 for a set of 2 folding knives. I gave one to a friend and other is pic related.
