What people realize that Canadian society doesn't mimic US society. There are things that separate us. Many comments on the 1010AM facebook group state "If these people were really Canadians, they'd be stating that 'all lives matter'". We have racial tensions, you just don't notice them because they either occur on a small scale in the shifting faultlines of lower-income inner city areas or in in rural areas. In the big cities it's minorities treating other minorities and whites badly, while outside of the cities it's whites treating minorities badly.
The reason why this country isn't a gigantic powder keg like it normally is with multicultural nations is because the cities are filled with a racial mix that's just too diverse for large scale trouble, and we tend to only import the middle class anyway. That might change.

What's funny is I live in North York and the convenience store by my apartment charged me $6 for a loaf of bread and $6 for a carton of milk. Asian owned establishment. I was flabbergasted by the price but ended up paying because I'm Canadian and felt it would be rude to refuse, but decided I'd never shop there again since the prices were so insane.
As it so happened I had to run over there for batteries one day, and there was an asian in front of my buying a loaf of bread. The guy at the counter charged him $3 and change. I was a bit confused by this but didn't say anything. Instead I decided to run an experiment. I went back there again a week later and made to buy a loaf of bread. The lady rang it up as a flat $5. I acted like I had forgotten my wallet and put it back, saying I'd pop in and grab later. Then I had a Chinese coworker of mine go in a half hour later and try to buy the same loaf of bread while I hung out outside, and he came out with the bill and again it was $3 and change. I told him that they were charging me almost double earlier in the day and he admitted that it was white tax and it happens a lot in Asian-run convenience stores in the GTA, Chinese and Koreans like to jack the price of goods when dealing with a white customer they think will be too stupid to realize what is happening.
That turned into a blog post, but really there's quite a lot of deep-rooted racism towards whites in this city. Nobody gives a shit though because white Americans had slaves once upon a time. This tweet doesn't shock me and I'd be really surprised if anything came of it.
