You do realise the cost of everything always goes up (inflation) and for a fair few people, their wages have remained the same or even been reduced.
What will most likely happen is costs do go up (marginally) people increase spending because they have more income and the economy as a whole benefits.
When these companies arbitrarily consolidate wealth it does nothing for the economy but create the illusion that it's boosting the gdp. In fact it makes everyone poorer. If that money isn't actually circulating throughout the economy you might as well just burn it.

This is gonna hit fast food the worst. I used to work at McDonald's during the summer at the end of high school and you see pretty quick that lunch is like the biggest thing at one of those places and breakfast is second - dinner really not so much. When people go there for lunch and the prices get raised, it's not like they're going to get a double cheeseburger instead of a Quarter Pounder - they're just going to pack a lunch from home instead, and/or eat a bowl of cereal at home before work. It won't just be that McDonald's will have to pay people more when taking in the same amount of revenue - that's difficult enough - it will be that some people will stop going entirely.
