Because a lot of us value our culture more than religion. For example we still celebrate the Zoroastrian holiday of Newroz and light massive fires. Arabs don't celebrate anything outside of Islam...I think. Anyways from my experiences with other Kurd we generally regard religion lower than our cultural identity.
