The incredible art, music and literature it produced seems to stem mostly from the 19th century.

The anthem, which most of westerners seem to adore, was based on the SU anthem, both in music and text. That's one example from the top of my head, if anyone asks, I'll think of something else. But generally yeah, most of the good stuff came from 19th/early 20th century.

Guys you just don't know much about our culture except some Tarkovsky etc. But there is still good music, cinema, literature. But it's not main stream of modern Russian culture.
