Hey /pol/, I recently got into an argument with one of my professors about voting. She's a socialist liberal twat that was crying about how states are implementing voter ID laws to control who votes. I interjected her bitching and made the argument that universal voting was retarded.

I argued that there was great wisdom by the founding fathers in making voting restricted to land owning whites because they have a stake in the country and are paying for it. I argued that people on welfare have no stake and just want to vote for as much benefits as possible, which should restrict them from the vote.

My professor made the argument that that type of argument is racist and would disproportionately affect blacks than whites. I countered that by saying that the majority of welfare users are white, and that if you use welfare, it is in your interest to keep it going. I brought up de Tocqueville, saying how he warned us about democracy and having the majority vote for money against the minority that pays for it.

Basically, she argued for everyone having the right to vote and I argued against it, citing Greece and early America as examples of why limiting the vote is good.

What do you think? I thought I argued my position pretty well but the majority of students and the professor were not swayed and they just treat me like a racist piece of trash now.

You're right. Remain based, you have influence on those afraid to speak up, but there are people who listen to you.
>>
>>69983415
Racist
Kill yourself white man
>>
>>69983415
You won the argument soundly, and she admitted defeat when she resorted to "DAS RAYCIS".
>>
>>69983415
Most people on welfare don't want more welfare, they want wealth and opportunity and a decent life (like everyone else does)

Allowing only the controlling upper class to vote is insanity because you face the same problem: They'll just vote in their own self interest, increase the wealth divide and create a large majority with an extremely shitty quality of life.

>everyone having the right to vote
Everyone shouldn't have the right to vote but it shouldn't be based on your status in society. You should have to take a test that demonstrates a basic understanding of how the government works and how the economy works. The testing material should be provided for free by the government; it can be disseminated through libraries, etc.

next time a cuck calls you racist remind them that that filthy kike trotsky invented that word to undermine western society, then proceed to call them marxists until they shut the fuck up.

Liberals always lose when it comes to sound argument.

Good job friend
>>
>>69983415
Right on brother! I really do hope this story is true. You do have a right to have your own opinion and you likely had people who sided with you but maybe were too afraid to voice their opinion. You have free speech and it's good you are using it.
>>
>>69983911

I would argue that your status is the test. Are you working and paying taxes? Do you own land? Then you get to vote.

Besides, that would help make it that only those that actually care about politics and are educated in it will vote because they are directly affected by what they vote for.

Majority of people today don't ever feel the pain of what they voted for.

>I would argue that your status is the test.
Status is arbitrary. Your status in life has more to do with what you inherit (like land), luck, nepotism, etc. Also the owning land thing is fucking nonsense.

I have an engineering degree and a decent paying job and prices for houses are so high I doubt I'll be able to own for a long time and I'm almost 30. Remember that the voting age is 18 -- what 18 year old has a decent job and owns property? Maybe the exceedingly rich ones. And I only got my job through nepotism even after graduating from a good school with lots of work experience and really high grades. I know thats anecdotal but its not a unique example.

>they are directly affected by what they vote for
Poor argument, welfare payers are also directly affected by what they vote for (thats what this is all about anyway)
>>
>>69984035

It's true. I usually sit quietly while my professor rants, but I was feeling particularly argumentative that day and was tired of no one challenging her leftist diatribes. Fucking cunt.

And guess what? She's a white woman that's head of the African American history department and is actively involved in some organization for African Americans.

Yeah, she'll be real objective when it comes to history.

One time she randomly says that there is no scientific basis for race and I challenged her saying that DNA and skulls and bones can be identified to belonging to a black man or an Asian, but she just walked it back saying that there is differences based on ethnicity but not on race.

So she's looking at the minutia of it instead of grouping them together.
>>
>>69984086
>those that actually care about politics and are educated in it will vote
Thus me suggesting people have to take and pass a test to vote. You're not going to bother if you don't care because it'll take effort. And obviously you'll be educated enough to understand the ramifications etc
>>
Sure. As long as those forbidden to vote aren't expected to obey any of the laws passed by the government they weren't allowed to vote for.
>>
>>69984339
so just make it so only those with jobs can vote
>>
>>69984339

It's not about how wealthy you are, it's how invested you are in your country. Are you actively involved working and paying taxes? Are you a land owner?

Land owning is a good test and I can give you one example. Think about all the government housing and apartments in which thousands of people all live in one block. Do you think that they will be as invested and active in the country as much as someone that owns land and owns their own living spaces? No.

And it can't be tax based since we even let illegals work here and pay taxes.
>>
>>69984464
Then I guess they aren't welcome to the benefits that government provides
:^)
>>
>>69983415

FUCKING WHITE MALE
>>
>>69983962

This is not true and will undermine your argument. The word racist was first penned by the guy who said 'kill the Indian, save the man'
>>
>>69983415
>Arguing with an SJW, subhuman level intellect
Good luck with that mate, these people are beyond reason
>>
>>69983415
Show her this and watch her get triggered: http://press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/documents/v1ch16s15.html

She can't even bring up the "slave owning Founders" nonsense as John Adams never owned a slave in his life and was a lifelong abolitionist.
>>
>>69984767

Yeah, what really got me was how different people treat me now. Like night and day. They either don't talk to me or are actively hostile. The only two Asians in the room agreed with me. Asian master race I guess.
>>
>>69984673
hes the first who used it as a primary form of propoganda

'

The theory of race, specially created, it seems, for some pretentious self-educated individual seeking a universal key to all the secrets of life, appears particularly melancholy in the light of the history of ideas. In order to create the religion of pure German blood, Hitler was obliged to borrow at second hand the ideas of racism from a Frenchman, Count Gobineau [4], a diplomat and a literary dilettante. Hitler found the political methodology ready-made in Italy, where Mussolini had borrowed largely from the Marxist theory of the class struggle. Marxism itself is the fruit of union among German philosophy, French history, and British economics. To investigate retrospectively the genealogy of ideas, even those most reactionary and muddleheaded, is to leave not a trace of racism standing.

On the plane of politics, racism is a vapid and bombastic variety of chauvinism in alliance with phrenology. As the ruined nobility sought solace in the gentility of its blood, so the pauperized petty bourgeoisie befuddles itself with fairy tales concerning the special superiorities of its raceā€¦.

Through the back door, racism returns to economic liberalism, freed from political liberties.'

hes the first who used it to attack anybody who opposed cultural marxism. hes the first who called people 'racists'

I don't get how you can be for democracy but against needing an ID

I mean clearly if literally on earth who physically turns up can vote it'd be illegitimate
>>
>>69984086
>Are you working and paying taxes?
This is stupid. Only people who owned houses and bought stuff paid tax before FDR (FeDeral Reserve). Income tax is bullshit.
>>
>>69985077

So then what do you propose we use as a measure in determining whose eligible to vote?
>>
>>69985077
This is false. In terms of direct income taxes, the first such taxes were implemented in 1862 (Revenue Act of 1862) to help pay for the war. The bottom rate was 3% on any annual income exceeding $600 (the equivalent of roughly $13,700 today). The first income tax to affect everyone, regardless of income, was implemented in 1913 (Revenue Act of 1913) after the 16th Amendment was passed to grant much broader power to tax (the Supreme Court had ruled income taxes unconstitutional in 1895). The bottom rate was 1% starting at $0.
>>
>>69983415
If a country expects me to pay taxes and fight it's wars they better give me the right to vote. But what do I know I have a tsar anyway.
>>
>>69983415
>My professor made the argument that that type of argument is racist and would disproportionately affect blacks than whites. I countered that by saying that the majority of welfare users are white, and that if you use welfare, it is in your interest to keep it going.
That's not an argument against what you said. The problem with only free landowners having the right to vote is that they consolidate their power and use it to make sure that nobody else becomes a free landowner. This makes a serf class, but also means that huge amounts of people are living under a system where they aren't represented. This leads to revolution.
>>
>>69983415
You're a retard

Hide your fucking powerlevel around professors
>>
>>69986440

I feel like people should be challenged by opposing opinions but yeah, people take this shit too personally. She acted like I spit in her face and sharted on her daughter.
