>This moment following a third place showing in the 2004 Iowa caucuses all but ended Howard Dean's run for president.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6i-gYRAwM0

Explain to me how this ended his chances at winning? The guy just got hyped up and excited?
>Howard Dean’s odd scream has followed him for 12 years and counting. It has been called a scream from 2004 that doomed his run for president.

The happy "yeah" somehow made all Americans hate him and ended his chances?

What the fuck?

>>
>>69976093
>disappointing Iowa finish
>already dying in the polls
>gives radio and tv shills an easy thing to tease him about

His campaign was dead without the scream, but it sure helped it die faster.
>>
its disguisting to me that the media let this scream ruin his candidacy, but Donald Trump can be openly fascist and they keep treating him with kid gloves. Ted Cruz can talk about "spanking" Hillary and its fine. I can only imagine what they would be doing to Hillary if she said anything even half as offensive as what the GOP says on a daily basis. "left wing media" my ASS!
>>
>>69976093
We don't let ourselves get worked up like that. We don't sing karaoke and we don't dance. Displays of emotion, crying, cheering, are considered the acts of unstable little girls. When a grown man does something like this in America, serious doubt is directed at his mental stability. If he is that quick to excitement, and lossibly to anger, is he also a wife beater? What kinds of irrational things is he capable of?
>>
>>69976093
Meme magic made him into a joke
>>
>>69976093
No. This is a phony narrative that was designed to help kill Dean's chances. The media and DNC were scared about his chances in the general election. He'd already made some serious missteps, and they really wanted a better fake American to run.

He was the legit choice of the Democrat party voters that year, but they were conned out of it to pick the gigolo John Kerry (who served in Vietnam).

>>
Wow.

I remember that. They'd play it non stop on the news for like a week.

With Trump running, he just seems like a normal person. Dean really should have kept going instead of explained himself.
>>
i've fantasized about being at some restaurant where he's at and doing the scream at him
>>
>>69976093

The daily show cucked the shit out of him when that happened, because he wasn't the liberal they wanted.
>>
The audio was manipulated to drown out the audience and highlight his scream. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what he did.

But he went a long with it. And now is a Democrat shill. It is so obvious they made him a deal and he was bought. He disgusts me. The man has no integrity. He is a complete cuck.

The US Mainstream Media, which is 99% soft/hard right wing, immediately jumped on it, WITHIN HOURS, to propagandize it as something silly. They certainly did NOT have time to get a real sense of it from the general public, only got their cues from the right wing echo chamber.

All of the people in the room were wildly and happily cheering along with him. They didn't think it was wrong at all.

Dean was closest to the Bernie Sanders true left Democrat wing,

The media had to destroy him.

>>69976093
Say something enough times and eventually people will believe, and when you've got control of the entirety of the media machine, there's no alternative.

The difference is with Donald, the explosion of the internet into popular conciousness meant an explosion in media outlets - the likes of Breitbart, Infowars, other news aggregators (whether you agree with them or take them seriously or not) coming mind in opposition to the outpost on the prairie that Fox was. And that's without taking into account that the news media takes left wing facebook posts and twitter outrages as national trends and public support/opposition

I don't understand it either.

I think the setup to it was WAY more awkward then the actual "scream".

The scream seems super fake and he pulled back on it.

The media just took it and dumped on him and the boobs ate it up.

If you think about it Hillary's barking was WAY more awkward then that scream will ever be but the media barely touched on it because they don't want to burn her up.

>ARGH ARGH

To be fair neither deserve to be destroyed over either of those situations. They should be anally devastated over their shit polices or crimes.

This kind of mentality doesn't work in a way that objectively evaluates behavior, it works in a way that seeks to connect preexisting prejudice to subjectively questionable behavior.

What other kinds of irrational things are you capable of? Please tell, because there really are people reasoning this way and no one should have to deal with them being taken seriously.

Tell ya what. Look up that weird Russian word I used while I finish laughing at you.

Fuck 1984. Orwell was still too enamored with the communists to break it down in non-fiction like he did with Down and Out in Paris and London.

1984 was about Stalin. Specifically Stalin and decades late. I'm in the middle of writing commentaries for an annotated edition of The Gulag Archipelago right now. Just a piece of that story is enough to make me regret not having a chance to spit in Orwell's face.

I'm working my ass off on that ~2,000 page work with a shit advance because I'm afraid people will forget the lessons learned in the Soviet Union. Just like the shitstains like you who think 1984 had to do with anything but Stalin.

For the record, beyond that idiotic right wing media comment, I think you could have a point.

Do you have any examples of policies Dean supported that would cause an immediate establishment backlash? The media's mocking of that scream always seemed suspicious to me.

I mean, seriously. 2016 is looking to be Hillary "Barks like a dog" Clinton VERSUS Donald "motorboats Giuliani in drag" Trump. His yell isn't even near that bad.

His supporters are the opposite of cucked. The media turned it into a forced meme that it ended his chances, because the fix was in for Al Gore. The media has always played hitman for the candidates the party donors are already aligned behind. This was before the ubiquity of the Internet, before people realized how badly the media was lying propaganda. After the Ira war, the media sunk in trust and positive opinion. They're somewhere around 10% positive opinion now in the US. Everyone goes online for their information now, so it can't really work the same way. The media is just now figuring ho much power they've lost with the experience of Trump.

Becasue it was a sign of insane delusion, and voters, rightly, saw him as a madman from that point on.
It hit the wrong emotional note. He had just come 3rd in a primary he was expected to win. His speech had no sense of proportion or relation to reality. No acknowledge of a setback or gritting it on.

It was pure mania, unjustified mania.
The scream was the manic cry of a bipolar man untethered to reality.

In Canadian political history we have had some politicians blunder in public and have it ruin their entire career. One guy running for leadership of a party( I think) was photographed dropping a football during a game of catch and it ruined him. Another guy had an interview right after he got off a sea-doo and it ruined him to.
It's somewhat more relaxed now and people tend to forget blunders more easily. A leader of one party gave a drunk speech last year and no one even remembers it anymore.

Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you carry it off that matters.

If you kinda make a tit out of yourself you just have to barrel through as if you don't give a fuck. That's what Trump does and every time the media tries to pin him down on something it just glides off like water off a ducks back.

All these losers whose runs were ended by single silly mistakes, like Dean, lost because they let the media do this to them. They backed down. It's just like every pussy who says something off colour and then immediately apologises and grovels when the media calls them out on it... Does it save them? NO! It makes it ten times worse because these vermin feed on weakness.

Dean should have doubled down and made that scream his signature. He should have done it at every fucking rally, on every media performance. That soundbite should have been his campaign. He should have owned it. Instead he let the media bullies get to him and it was over.

Take this into consideration. The next time someone makes fun of you or demands an apology for something you've said, do or say it again and again and again. As soon as you capitulate in any way you've lost and you've validated their bullshit.
>>

This is generally good advise for minor gaffes like the Dean Scream, but I'd be wary of telling the autists here to double down on any social faux pass.
