Do really strict Catholics not believe in dinosaurs?
>>
>>69966221
They don't believe in anything, but the need to suck Protestant's dick.
>>
>>69966221
its not about strictness, its about retardation. some do but only because they fell for the fundamentalist meme propagated by protestants. a reasonable christian understands things as 'le six days' meme as in 'six ages', aka the bible is the word of god translated through the flawed hands and minds of man

catholics historically made a lot of scientific discovery too, along with some protestants etc
>>
>>69966221
No.

The Catholic Church officially accepted evolution more than half a century ago. The Pope has expressed admiration for the Tyrannosaurus Rex and admitted to beign a 'dinosaur' when it comes to computers.

So no, Catholics have many forms of obligatory brain damage, but this is not one of them.

You may now thank me for doing your research for you.
>>
>>69966221
Ultra orthodox either don't believe they did or that they did co-exist with humans sometime before the flood and Noah.

Others who interpret it more liberally thing the 6 days is a metaphor or they meant ages instead of days.

Most often thing I see cited is the behemoth god shows Job in the book of Job as being a dinosaur.
>>
>>69966221
You mean Christians. Ive met non Catholics that believe the worlds only 6,000 years old.
>>
>>69966221
Creationism is a retarded Protestant construct. Strict Catholics should see no problem with Evolution.

See: Theistic evolution.
>>

>>
>>69966221
Ex-Catholic, current ayytheist here
No Catholic denies dinosaurs unless they have been hanging out with particularly retarded Protestants

>>69966923
Ultra orthodox Catholics are not fundamentalist Protestants
>>
>>69967110
because fundamentalists are profitable for certain groups and churches tend to be large social structures that exist in the real world, which means they require funds

No Scholar of Hebrew will allow that translation.
Also: Ex 20:10
And an other thing, if it's ages, not days, you have really big problems. (For example the sun being made after the plants.)

No, some popes have spoken positive about it. But then again some popes strangled people in confession.

>>69967097
>no problem with Evolution.
Dead before sin is a major heresy.
Also: "I am the immaculate conception." as Mary put it in Lourdes, some years before Darwins book came out. But that'd be too much to get into now.

>>69967110
Because the age's lie is a modernist interpretation going against both sound Hebrew & tradition.

If I paint a painting and I was inspired by Michelangelo that doesn't mean that Michelangelo painted it.

Or maybe I'm just taking all this too literally.

that last bit is retarded. people all over the world find fossils of dinosaurs and call them dragons, yes, or at least that is how we translate whatever they call them into english, but the stories only generally agree on dragons being giant lizard like animals. in china they have no wings but can fly and cause rain and mainly live in rivers. in other places they have no wings and cannot fly but breathe fire. in other places they can fly, breathe fire, talk, horde wealth for no real reason, and kidnap maidens cuz why not?

Sorry, let me try again.

If /pol/ is to be believed, there's a few distinct human races. Well, if the flood killed everybody except Noah (which was the point), then we should all be his descendants, right? Then where the fuck do blacks and asians and whites come from? Where does the genetic variation come from since all that's left is inbreeding with family members?

Does any Christian have a reasonable answer to this? Because the only answer seems to be this picture in >>69968246 saying God quickly changed humans into their distinct races.

Yeah, but this is a more general question to Christians that doesn't involve the YEC model. Don't most Christians believe the flood really happened and everybody but Noah's family was obliterated? Then somehow all the different races right now on the planet came about through incest, which doesn't seem possible.

If the flood is a real thing, then how long ago did it happen? Ten thousand years before recorded history? A million?

there have been various mega floods in real history in ages past. about ten thousand years ago as the ice age ended a giant glacial damn in the northwest US broke and a giant inland sea flooded though, carving out the columbia river gorge. the black sea experienced a similar flood that dramatically raised it's level and expanded its banks. many places that were once above sea level are now underwater. most of those places had it occur gradually but it could have passed down in cultural memory as a figurative flood.

On a serious note, I know religion is not able to be proven, but there is a staggering amount of evidence for evolution and it shouldn't be ruled out out of utter denial.

My personal belief was that if God existed and created everything on the Earth, that it was done billions of years ago and that he left it to its own devices to evolve with small interventions here and there. This included other worlds in our universe as well.
