Many factors caused it. There was a lot of tension in many countries involved. Germany was bitter and broken from the outcome of WWI, but was able to reconstruct itself under Hitler's rule. Unemployment rates dropped massively and the country regenerated a lot of lost wealth. They did believe that Jews were subverting their country, though, because they controlled the banks, media, and high positions in government (David Duke calls this "The Zionist Matrix"), not just in Germany but in many Western countries. The leaders of Communist Russia were also Jews, and they were bent on invading Eastern Europe.

They gain an industry and a nation. The Holocaust story has turned into a huge industry in favor of the Jews who tell the story. They also were able to strengthen their push for the establishment of Israel because they had a country of their own to go to after the war. They also have an excuse for garnering support for strengthening Israel because they can say that they have faced genocide and have nowhere else to go, so they need help in building a place of their own.
Another benefit is that they can usually get away with things like ethnically cleansing Palestine. When Israel is criticized for committing genocide, they often get reactions like the one from the girl in this video, who fake cries about the Holocaust (and is rightfully called out for it):
