The male voice actor is complete shit and they used him to capture emotion but there wasn't even an emotional part in the game. They fucked up big time with that game.

I wanted to side with the institute, but they're doing too many retarded things that don't really have anything to do with their goals or stated interests, but were added in to make them the obvious bad guys.
Fallout 4 is the only Fallout game that I haven't finished, and probably will not finish for some time. Last I remember doing was getting into the institute and my game glitched so I had to manually unlock the door that revealed old shaun with commands.
Kind of a shitty game, will probably try it again once all the DLC is out.

I couldn't side with the institute. Hsuan said they were giving up on the commonwealth, that it was beyond saving or whatever.

Form a proxy government built from the settlements. Insert their own representatives from each settlement (who are actually gen 3 synths).
Start expanding.
Keep their experiments hush hush while slowly leaking technological advancements such as more efficient power generators, and medicine to their proxy government.
Continue as such.
Boom wasteland's a much better place for everyone, and the institute itself is kept secret.
Even if it was discovered. if they were as altruistic as that, no one would have an issue with them, and maybe only the brotherhood, who would be easily blocked by combined institute/commonwealth forces.

The ideal system would be kind of like Rivet City from FO3. There would be one counsel that makes the decisions with a seat on the counsel for security (Brotherhood of Steel), science (Institute) and the people (Dimond City/Minute Men).

What's the point of freedom and democracy when the only thing they do is set up settlements where people can join and leave whenever they want with no repercussions? Some chucklefucks could just walk in and vote for stuff in their favor in a particular settlement, drive it to the ground by their policies, and walk out when it's destroyed. What good is democracy when people care more about surviving than whose running what government and if their laws are just? Minutemen are useless in a post-apocalyptic world with a minimal civilization still standing. They just exist in the game to give indecisive and weak-thinking players a feel-good main-story fraction ending (kind of like Yes-Man, but at-least the consequences of choosing him are left ambiguous with how the game ends when the main story is completed) and to have an excuse to link the settlement building feature to a fraction.
The Institute, in their position, is ideally the best option, if run rightly, to saving the Wasteland. Too bad the writers made it retarded so it can't be. Making the Brotherhood the best option to chose with re-building civilization.
