What if babies could be produced in artificial wombs or xenopregnancy techniques using purchased eggs or using genetically selected chromosome pairs.

All this could have been possible by now if religious and ethical restrictions on science where not subverting our future greatness.

That too. If it had enough intelligence to be equal to a real life relationship, how would it not want to go out and explore and meet other people? Who's to say the AI wouldn't cheat on you? You couldn't just hold it captive. Why would you want to date an AI with no other life experiences? What makes relationships with real humans great is growing and learning.

>is it ethical
When this question actually becomes a realistic concern, I can tell you right now that it will bring into question the legitimacy of "ethics" itself.

Because it can be unethical if:
>sex toys are unethical
>it's unethical to exploit a conscious robot

Now, if we're going to declare sex toys unethical, okay...

But if we're going to raise issue with it being "rape" and bring about the notion that a specific configuration of mechanical creation has "rights", then we have to draw the line, and where that line is drawn is completely arbitrary.

You don't want the goyim to notice that ethics are arbitrary, do you?

I think men are more likely to go for this. Women can get a boyfriend whenever they want and get railed by Chad every night so long as they look moderately presentable. Men have to jump through hoops just for a sliver of a chance but a lot of men just can't do it.

Women are told they can be healthy at any size but men are expected to have six packs.

Women now work full time and still expect a man to earn more, despite women in their 20s and 30s out-earning men.

Women expect men to be smarter and highly educated, despite women vastly outnumbering men at universities.

The future is very dark for all but a tiny minority of men, unless things change.

Assuming that the robot has sentient-level AI then it should be able to fill the role of a father/mother. Not saying it - for the first generations - would be better than a biological parent but as models are improved based on experience, it could eventually come to a point where there is no significant difference.

>What kind of environment would you be subjecting the children to?

The child will probably adjust since it is brought up with the robot parent from birth. As to the social environment, people would most likely be freaked out by it at the start and gradually come to accept it.
>>
>>69927868
Now what absolutely makes this hilarious is that, because "consciousness" can be simulated in such a way that it's not actual consciousness and it's 100% predictable using the core logic to determine the factors being given consideration in the algorithm in any given situation, such as the case in an "A.I." like Tay, there will still be people who are fooled by the algorithm into seeing genuine feelings instead of predetermined responses to a given set of conditions.

But then if we don't know what "genuine" feelings are at a fundamental level to make an argument with any solid foundation about why they're not "genuine" emotions, then there's no reason why those sympathetic to the synths don't have some degree of legitimacy.

And this is gonna be fun.

Our modern day Tower of Babel is getting pretty tall, and the wind is picking up.
13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

14 The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.

15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.

16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.

How depressing is it that it's all covered so adequately by a bunch of penis mutilating goat herders in the desert?

17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.

20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.

21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?

23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I?

26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

The meek shall truly inherit the earth.

1. Why would we give every random robot a complete sentient level AI? It makes no sense.

2. Robots would feel not attachement to one another, they're not like humans. It would likely not even exist within the exact same type.

3. If we were dumb enough to actually produce a sentient smart AI, we're all dead. The only question would be when. Wiping us out has far more positives to it where the AI is concerning than keeping us around, from existential threat, to resource monopolization and so on.

4. Your "sex bot" doesn't need to be an actual smart AI. A Virtual AI or a "dumb" one would be completely sufficient. Neither of those would in any kind of way warrant giving it human rights.
>>
>>69938885
>Wiping us out has far more positives to it
AI would leave Earth before expending the energy and resources to wipe out 7billion+ humans. They'd be best suited heading off to the asteroid belt and mining in the eternal sunlight, or setting up shop on Mars - no terraforming required.
Logically there's no reason whatsoever for them to stay in an oxygenated gravity-well full of potentially genocidal sentients who are already armed.
>>
>>69939235
Robocuck, is that you? We're an existential threat to them, they could also not immediatly take off without etablishing an actual production basis, manufacturing everything they need and make sure it actually gets there much less could we allow them to which they'd in turn know.

Because all the resources within our solar systems are resources we ultimatively have our eyes on and will need eventually. Handing over the solar system bar earth to an AI will just ensure that we will eventually die, at best when we run out of resources here at worst when the AI is in a position to easily wipe us out which it would fairly quickly be.

Which still leaves open the question, how did any of this benefit us to begin with?

Why?
Furthermore, what stops them from leaving the solar system entirely if they felt the need to, or is that still not enough space? Assuming they've reached sentience and there's a "they" to begin with, they'd have the means to self-produce and make it offworld so long as we weren't carpet-bombing them to shit at the time.

Once again, we're talking about smart and learning AIs here. Which are altogether different from "dumb" ones with hard coded restrictions, not that they might not find a way around that.

Creating a smart AI, as in a proper one is a recipe for disaster and extinction. Giving it human rights would be like handing it a loaded gun and putting the barrel on your head.

"Look guys, I just came up with some moronic retort which allows me to handwave away anything and everything anyone ever writes before the AI actually wipes us out because it's all feelings!"

Things such as competition for resource, both sides simply existing being an existential threat for the other side, AI drawing from the same resource pool as us so solely by depleting them already becoming a danger to us (and yes, that includes the rest of the solar system), AI far more rapidly developing than us to the point where we will eventually "not even be seen" by the AI anymore as we just become another animal that might eventually be in the way of some project ot undertakes and so on and on.
>>
>>69940577
Sure thing and then you have this incredible smart AI, which is constantly getting smarter, which will know what you did and which you leave in turn to design and create even more sophisticated machinery and smarter AI's in turn.

What could possibly go wrong?

Irrelevant once you realize Earth isn't the only place to get stuff. AI, if it becomes a reality, will be able to leave for other solar systems centuries before we will, and have no reason not to go somewhere humans won't ever bother them if they're that concerned over perceived competition from a species they already outclass.

I don't understand why they would think this though, I get why humans are fearful but why would AI fear us at all? They might try to preserve us, or they might have no feeling about us whatsoever, but unless we were EMP bombing their population centers I don't see what sort of threat we could present, even in the long-term. If they felt truly under attack, it'd be more sensible to pull a Doctor Manhattan and fuck off somewhere more quiet than to engage in a potentially resource-draining genocide/war.

If humanity plays its cards right, it won't have to be an 'us or them' scenario with robots, we'll just be the robots ourselves.
>>
>>69941730
Resources aren't infinite even in the solar system, if it gets to that point it basically just took our chance to ever make it out. Good job.

Then again, you are capable of predicting that yourself, the AI taking those resources, leaving us in the dust when it comes to developement and spreading faster and further than we.

The danger in that apparently is completely missed on you, as is the question as to how this benefits us and why we would allow it.

>>69943089
1. Because an AI wouldn't pop up and be instantly invincible to us. It would take time, a lot of time. All throughout this time us existing is a threat to them.

2. Great, so you basically want to become their pet or something like that. One that might be discarded at any point and is based on sentimentalism which they very likely wont have.

3. Because there is zero reason for them to avoid a conflict, especially one they could easily win. We don't avoid conflicts with ants, we poison them. If there are mice in your house you get an exterminator.

If the place you want to build your new house is inhabitated by some wild life? Well, tought luck. Either they run or you just bulldoze them.

Men will be able to have them before women because men are better at roleplay/convincing themselves to love the robot.

Society (as we know it) will collapse before successful male AI is made. Women will rage because they can't sympathize with robots but men can, thereby women are discarded.

Men can literally sympathize with literal fucktoys, while women have way higher standards, meaning that the female bot will be completed before the first male bot is created.

Game theory and irrational actors. Humans are prone to irrational actions, and thus over the long term, will take any action available to them. We have a history of violence and extremist sects, and it only takes one idiot to build a Von Neumann VI with the goal of killing off the AI in a misguided attempt at preventing some Butlerian jihad situation. The AI, having examined the course of human history, comes to the conclusion that humans are a threat not just to itself, but any other sophont species.

Of course, being several orders of magnitude more intelligent than I am, the AI will likely find some solution more elegant than "throw a rock at the problem, like, really hard."

Agreed, I feel like the advent of AI is like human cloning or gene editing: it's gonna happen regardless of intent to prevent it, so the best thing to do is attempt to guide it towards something productive or at the very least away from the directly detrimental.

Men are just so lonely nowadays, many of us end up living a single life just wanting someone to cuddle with, someone to talk to before we fall asleep each night. But since woman have been so easily programmed by this corporate landscape they have absurdly high expectations of men, and much of us struggle with that. Even those of us who work out, eat healthy, and try to maintain a social circle are still living the meaningless lonely life.

It's no wonder we'll fall so easily into VR simulations and AI talking to us, we're just trying to fill in that empty void with something meaningful.

Friendly reminder that artificial intelligence and robots will be way more beneficial to men than women.

Men can build or buy robots to satisfy their every desires and do anything that a normal woman can do.

However, considering that in 99% of relations, it's the man being the provider, it's assured that women can't simply buy a 6 foot 4 inches tall robot with an 11 inch dick to satisfy her, considering the costs and maintenance.

Feminists are going crazy that sexbots are replacing women. Fight for the future.
