Really though, I think Trump has a strong plan B, because IF he can't run as a republican, the (I) next to his name only makes it easier for him to take in independents and democrats; as well as many republicans who know kasich is just another clinton. He will ensure that even if clinton won, a new GOP derivative will be formed. My hope is it will embrace nationalist/libertarian/capitalist principles instead of the mostly globalist/authoritarian/socialist principles the GOP has been pushing directly or through "veiled incompetence".

Congressmen are only loyal to a party up until being a member becomes a liability, many already are on the Trump train for this reason, or are quietly waiting for best chance to hop on board.
Also its not about 51%, its about who has the most votes in each state, a much more achievable task. Also, unlike party primaries, it is very very rare for electoral college delegates to switch vote, also, they would be select by Trump himself, he would submit a list of delegates to each state, to be instated upon his winning the majority, meaning if he got 35% hillary got 30% and kasich got 30% 5% other, Trump would get those delegates, and he picks them not the parties corrupt system (whether he is independent or not this is true).
