4chan is where I shitpost all day long, after I read the news and shit on a few other sites. But. If you can remember how fucked up 4chan looked the first time you came here, you have to understand why outsiders sometimes misunderstand what is going on.
Places like Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and others, tend to have a bit more obvious structure to their content. Maybe that's why those sites appeal more to morons.
Or maybe 4chan's awkward presentation tends to appeal to autistic shitheads like myself.

I saw a (couple month old, but still) news video yesterday, claiming that 4chan was a step only slightly above the dark web, and that it's so incredibly easy to find dead bodies everywhere. I question how long they actually spent looking on the board.

Also they are shoved in everyone's faces. Look at how many articles/things online have those panel of buttons you can just press it automatically shares the thing. This always bothered me when it first happened, because all the sudden I'm auto-logged into all these other sites because I have a FB account.
Basically those sites get feed traffic and content from other sites.

Nah you're alright, 4chan is just old school and unfamiliar to those who's Internet-use is basically "I have a smart phone" and weren't around in the older days of the web, where this lay out makes a lot of sense and still does. It doesn't make sense to people who have to have profiles and reputations.

That's funny because it sounds second-hand information exactly. That's the hysterical exaggeration over-sensationalized view of 4chan. So of course that's what they go with. Funny thing is this site is primarily porn/sex stuff if anything. The second I see a journalist describe 4chan as a place where everyone is fapping and occasionally discusses things based on supposed topics for each board, I'll buy whatever that journalist is selling.
