Holy fuck California actually passed this and now govenor moonbeam is signing it?

I mean I knew it passed one house but it actually made it to his desk to be signed?

What the fuck this is fucking crazy.

Good. Fucking shitty companies should have to pay their workers. I look at it as a nationalist duty.

I thought they were against to so-called 'trickle down economics', yet here they are reaping the benefits...

>company keep 60+ year old retiree living on pension and paid $28/hr

Well guys, looks like I am part of the welfare world now. Minimum wage is a joke when companies keep high paid retirees employed. My job was no joke either, was a skilled job.
>paid $14/hr
>minimum wage in Canada

If they fire the retiree he'll sue their asses to hell and back for age discrimination

Good for them.
These progressive economic policies should be implemented at the state level.
Let some states have free healthcare, college, no guns, etc. and other states the opposite.
And then, we can compare the outcomes.
Welfare, min wage, social security, healthcare do not belong at the federal level. But make the laws as socialist as you wish - at the state level.

It's only retarded if you don't compare inflation to minimum wage over the last decade or so.
>>
Honestly, the problem isnt that minimum wage in Cali is being raised, its that the people "demanding" it be raised have done absolutely nothing to earn said wages.

You'd be blown the fuck away how many of those people are either highschool dropouts or failed felons - if they'd make use of the government benefits for people like them, they'd be able to afford more (or any) schooling and be able to put it on a resume.

But theyd prefer to just coast it out and hope the government will save them. Fucking leeches.

Only reason I even say this is because I have a brand new truck, bought a house, and got back to school for a welding certification on 10/hr. I live in MD, which is very similar to Cali in terms of living costs, and it blows me away that these people cant make ends meet.

Now the minimum wage is at 1980s levels if you consider inflation and purchase power. it really should be higher like the minimum wage was in the 1960s.

This will mean a lot more money circulating in the economy and will create jobs, just like when there have been minimum wage hikes other places in the world. It will also mean that the state of california does not subsidize low wages with food stamps and benefits anymore. Now people survive on their own so California state will have a lot extra cash.

>Now make too much to qualify for dem programs
Can't wait for them to realize that.

They work hard as fuck, they deserve to be able to live by the wages. That used to be super American until you became facinated with how low wages could go and how people were willing to subsidise low wages with tax money like food stamps and so on just to keep the wages low.

nationalism would be making civilians productive, not wasting their lives in service industry jobs that create nothing of value for the nation.
