Redpill me on the Afghanistan War. What reason did the Ameribros have to invade this pile of shit, given the assumption that there was likely no connection to the 9/11 attacks and they had the intel that told them so.

Because Osama was there and Afghanistan is lower hanging fruit than Pakistan. Plus the military and MIC wanted to make and test out new toys on Afghans first hand.

US been in the middle east since the 80s. It's just an extention of the cold war.
No one cares about sandniggers, it's just a convenient fighting ground.

The taliban banned the cultivation of opium in 2000, at the time afghan produced 75% of the worlds supply..
It's hard to make painkillers without opium

Russia/China containment policy

the taliban first came to power in afghanistan due to pakistan providing them weapons and funding to set up a friendly government in the chaotic period post-soviet war, because they wanted to be able to construct a natural gas pipeline through afghanistan into the central asian states that were open to privatization following the collapse of the ussr

the us wanted to co-opt that but also genuinely wanted to destroy al qaeda who had protection from the taliban in afghanistan

also, since bush bought into the riduclous neocon belief that we could just construct little americas everywhere, it would help support us hegemony in the region by boxing in iran (with the upcoming iraq war that they always wanted providing the other half) and therefore giving us hegemony over oil in the middle east (with a saudi/iraqi team to combat iran) and gas production in central asia.

Taliban made most of their money from smuggling opium. US troops were told to burn any poppy fields they found.

They invaded because This man was a traitor who helped the rise of talibans and international terrorism.

There were al qaeda and taliban there and the US didn't yet know osama was in pakistan, although the posibility should have been explored earlier, concurrently with afghanistan even
