Yeah, nah. When the Catholic-Protestant struggle ended, and people were no longer forced to stay with their churches out of fear of being shunned by their communities, people simply stopped going. Mostly because Churches tend to be fun-hating institutions (especially the Protestants), and the only reason people went there because they didn't really have a choice.... Now that the pillarisation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillarisation) has basically completely ended in this society, and a welfare state has been implemented, there is nearly no reason to be a member of any church anymore... In America many people are members of churches because many welfare-esque things are run through churches. If you're poor, and the state won't help you, there's always the church.
