In this link, 79 of 198 new billionaires are chinese.
My own guess is that the jealousy stems from westerners not being able to accept successful chinese people as e chinese people are meant to be seen as work horses. E.g. The kid you harshly bullied in high school is now a ultra-rich 10/10 bitch slaying alpha. Its like th chinese are meant to be seen as weak, submissive, spineless, beta, middle-management working drones; interestingly, that perception resonates more for the Japanese.
But In the end, is it jealousy? Jealousy that there are actually people in China who has managed to become billionaires and millionaires within a single generation? Jealousy that they became far richer than you yet in such a smaller amount of time that, when you think about it, all that time you spent in college and working your way up in the world was naught compared to the Chinese? Sure china still has a poverty problem, but at the same tim china has the most millionaires and billionaires (imagine, the top 0.1% of chinese accounts for 1.4 million people) and theyre spreading into western countries and capitalising them, which is fair game, i mean, welcome to capitalism.
