Gaming used to have something that actual nerds didbso it cultivated creativity, a desire to learn things, yada yada. I'm 23. I used to buy into the whole bar scene/culture, because that's what people my age tend to do. I know so many weekend alcoholics who are just out of college. THAT is degenerate, my friend. I'm glad I stopped going out and getting drunk on Fridays and Saturdays. One of the ways I coped with cutting down my drinking was allowing myself to blow off steam with a little gaming every now and then.
I still lift. I still do stuff with my girlfriend. I still study and work.
